Bolton Council launched a consultation reviewing the Alcohol Public Space Protection Order, which is due for renewal in October 2026. Please feel free to share the information below with your constituents. I have also attached an infographic for your use on social media.

Have your say the Alcohol Consumption Public Space Protection Order [PSPO] for the Borough of Bolton.

Bolton Council currently has an Alcohol PSPO which is due to expire in October 2026. This PSPO enables Greater Manchester Police [GM Police] and any other authorised officer to challenge alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour in a public place in Bolton.

We are now seeking to renew it for a further 3 years and would like feedback from the public and key stakeholders. For further information and to have your say, please visit: https://bit.ly/Alcohol_PSPO. Deadline: Thursday 16th July 2026

Bolton Council launched a consultation reviewing four Dog Control Public Space Protection Orders, which are due for renewal in October 2026. Please feel free to share the information below with your constituents. I have also attached an infographic for your use on social media.

Have your say on Dog Control Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs)

Bolton Council currently has four Dog Control PSPOs which are due to expire in October 2026. They give the police and authorised officers of Bolton Council additional powers aimed at preventing nuisance caused by irresponsible dog owners or dog walkers. The four orders are:

The Dogs Exclusion PSPO
The Dogs on Leads PSPO
The Dogs on Leads by Direction PSPO
The Fouling of Land by Dogs PSPO

We are now keen to hear from our residents, stakeholders and visitors on their experiences of the PSPOs and views around the proposed renewal. For further information and to have your say, please visit: https://bit.ly/Dog_Control2026. Deadline: Monday 13th July 2026

Mayor of Westhoughton Councillor Sarita Chohan writes:

It was an honour to attend the Civic Ceremony of Horwich Town, held at the beautiful Holy Trinity Church, followed by a lovely reception at Regents Golf Club.

My sincere thanks to the Horwich Town Council Mayor Councillor Kevin McKeon, and Mayoress Mrs Irene McKeon, for their warm hospitality and for inviting us to be part of such a special occasion.

It was also a pleasure to be in the company of fellow dignitaries, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, Councillor Iqbal and Mrs Iqbal, and the Mayor of Adlington, Councillor Alison Rothwell, together with her consort.

Civic ceremonies provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate community spirit, friendship, and public service, and it was a privilege to share in the day.

Wishing Mayor Kevin McKeon and Mayoress Irene McKeon a happy, successful, and memorable year ahead in office. 👍🏽

Mayor of Westhoughton,, Councillor Sarita Chohan writes:

It was a pleasure to be invited by the Westhoughton Rotary Club and its President, Mr Ollie Young, along with Vice President Christine Walsh, to learn more about their wonderful "Books4Home" project, which has donated 200 books suitable for a range of primary school age groups.

The project encourages the collection and sharing of pre-loved books, helping to reduce waste and prevent books from ending up in landfill, while at the same time inspiring and educating young minds through reading.

This fantastic initiative was warmly received by the children and staff at Washacre Primary School, including Headteacher Mr Howarth, who were delighted to receive the generous donation.

A huge thank you to the Westhoughton Rotary Club for their continued support of our young people and their love of reading.

Happy reading to everyone at Washacre Primary School! 📚📖

What a fantastic job done on the planters! Thank you to all our groups who are looking after the planters.

Mayor of Westhoughton, Councillor Sarita Chohan writes:

It was a great honour to join the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, in the official unveiling of Westhoughton's new heritage statues today.

Featuring a cow, cricket equipment, and a greyhound, each statue represents an important part of Westhoughton's rich history and heritage, celebrating the traditions and industries that have helped shape our town over many generations.

This wonderful project has been funded through Section 106 developer contributions that were specifically set aside for public art following the construction of the town's Sainsbury's more than 16 years ago.

Despite the gloomy weather, the statues stood proudly and will now serve as a lasting reminder of Westhoughton's heritage for residents and visitors alike.

Thank you to everyone who attended the unveiling. I hope these beautiful additions to our town bring enjoyment, pride, and inspiration to all who see them for many years to come.

A wonderful addition to Westhoughton and a fitting tribute to our local history.
