🆚 Charnock Ridgeway Women

What can we say other than this team are getting stronger and stronger with every second that goes by! This week really showed that as we took the lead in the opening 10 minutes with a perfect pass from Lily Handley and a superb finish from Lucy ⚽️.

We went on to lose the game mainly through fitness levels not being where our actual potential allows then to be BUT… that can and WILL be improved. Once it does we are aiming for the top! 💪🏼

Player of the match this week goes to…. Leah Harris 🥳. Despite not having played in 3-4 years she showed that she had not lost her ability to be a game changer. Her fire and desire to have a positive impact was evident from the second she stepped foot on the pitch. Congrats Leah and welcome back 👏🏼.

🆚 Staveley Miners Welfare Ladies

On Sunday we took on our neighbours in a physical match which saw Staveley take the 3 pts.

Despite not getting the result we wanted it was by far our best performance! Right from the get go we put in more challenges in the midfield than we had previously and we finally got a goal against our name thanks to Lily Handley ⚽️.

The player of the match, chosen by the captain, was Kirsty PT Oakley 🏆. This was for getting stuck in and breaking up play at every given chance. Despite the opposition showing some off ball physicality Kirsty never backed down and kept battling until the end 🙌🏼 fantastic performance by her and by all the team.

Before I go on public groups/pages I want to ask our Rook friends and family for help.

You will have seen posts around social media about our Bolsover Town FC Ladies team. We had a difficult start to pre-season and I’m determined for this amazing bunch of ladies to never have to face all that again. We want to build a legacy within our town.

To do that I need your help!! ❤️

I am looking for the following to help me create something special with and for this team;

📧 Social Media volunteer. Someone who can help create some eye catching graphics to enhance social media traffic

⚽️ A coach. Regardless of what level you are at I am happy to give opportunities to new coaches or for someone of experience to help develop the team. We have one coach but it would be great to offer more so we can do one on one as well as team coaching.

💵 Player Sponsors. £50.00 gets the player a full training and match day kit and gives you an opportunity to be shared on our social media accounts.

❤️‍🩹 Physio. Our players deserve someone to come to their rescue and offer first aid treatment but also offer professional advice on how to treat any injure.

💥 SEASON OPENER 💥

Finally we got our first competitive match out of the way!! It was fair to say a few nerves were on display as many players made their first ever competitive debut or making a come back after many years away.

However… once again… we gained experience and it proved to be an opportunity to learn about ourselves as individuals and most importantly as a family 🥰

⚽️ MATCH RESULT ⚽️

Today we faced a new and refreshed Staveley Miners Welfare FC Ladies who had some stand out players who showed their quality, and experience.

We gave our all in making sure the game was one that was more evenly matched than our previous pre-season friendlies. Our defence has had a shake up and the new look back four is looking strong. Our midfield is coming together and look more and more exciting each game! Our pace is starting to show as our new players are shaking off the cobwebs and getting fired up. Our strikers are getting hungrier but are not currently seeing much of the ball but don't worry... we are saving those goals for the league games 😉. Of course our keeper is as solid as a rock and never fails to impress all that get to see her 🤩

Some players have to work hard to get to a certain level and others are gifted with natural talent. Ash is definitely one of the gifted ones. Today she matched any wingers pace and was a thorn in their side through out as Ash did not give up any battle. So proud to have you as part of our family! You were amazing 🥰

⚽️ Match Day ⚽️

Another pre-season friendly ticked off and more minutes under the belt for our new squad.

Nothing but positives came from yesterday’s game where we came up against another higher league team in Handsworth Development Ladies.

You can already see the improvement in our team who continue to do us proud day in and day out. There are less gaps forming as individuals grow stronger and confident in their positions.

The future is looking bright… it’s red 🔴 and white ⚪️

Congratulations to;

Managers player: Jen Sherman who has been thrown into a completely new role and absolutely thrived!! She doesn’t shy away from any challenge and can go toe to toe with any player. Incredibly proud Jen and throughly deserved ❤️
