Last night saw Civilian Instructor Joanne Beau-Mont receive a Lord Lieutenants Certificate of Meritorious Service, in an awards ceremony at New County Hall.

Her dedication and committment to both 169 and 2533 Squadrons and the wider Wing were recognised with this wonderful award and ceremony.

All of us at 169 are proud to see you recognised for all of your hard work to get our cadets to have all the opportunities possible, despite some of the hurdles we have suffered in the last 12 or so months.

Jo was joined by two other members of her family who are also volunteering with the Squadron, husband Darryl, the Civilian Committee Chair and son Drew , who is a Service Instructor. Our OC was also invited as the Commanding Officer of a recipient.

This week we have been putting the AIR in Air Cadet!

On Tuesday, 3 cadets headed to RAF St Mawgan for Air Experience Flying with units from 2 Flying Training School. The weather was changable but all cadets managed to get airborne and even experience the thrill of Aerobatics!

Today, 3 more cadets attended 626 Volunteer Gliding Squadron at Predannack Airfield, for Glider Induction Flying. The weather was very sunny with all the cadets again getting airborne.

These activities dont come around very often for us in Plymouth & Cornwall Wing, so we need to grasp every opportunity to its fullest. but it needs staff support.to make it happen. Thank you to the Units who flew us!

Thanks also need to go to CI Beau-Mont fot taking the cadets to St.Mawgan and the OC for taking the Cadets Gliding. (AK)

Over the last few weeks our cadets have been all over the place enjoying activities such as Adventure Training, a 3 day camp, Flight Simulators, Shooting and a Water park visit.

Staff have also been busy with assisting on these camps, transporting, and also having a CPD day on the Long Range at Millpool to get the Cadets shooting the L98 again.

Yesterday evening, the cadets were being issued with new MTP camoflague uniform which has been purchased by our Civilian Committee to ensure our cadets have the latest uniform and equipment.

We had the pleasure to present 2 Blue Space qualifications badges to Cpl Thomas and Cdt Heather, a Master Cadet badge to Sgt Stephens, Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award certificate and badge to Sgt Stephens and CI Haskayne received his Certificate of Appointment as a Civilian Instructor on the Squadron.(AK)

From our Commanding Officer to our newest Civilian Instructor and all of our volunteers in between, the organisation would not function without each and every one of you.
