It is always so different for me to go to the dance without Phill, but we had a great night! 20 dancers worked just perfectly.😍

We started with The Fairy Ring and repeated The Road to Rheindown from last week, great fun!☺️

As the numbers were perfect we did Polka Dot Polka to practice our Reel of 3’s and I was absolutely blown away, how great it went! Some of you danced reels only second time and I know it is very hard, but by the end of it, it went really well! 🥰

We did The Wild Geese!!! We practiced the first 16 bars in 2 couple sets, so we all got the hang of it quite quick, I had to alter it a bit to do it once to the bottom as our numbers were not ideal but it went really well. Again a very popular dance, which if you go anywhere around the world, people will dance!😊

We learnt a new strathspey The Sunningdale Strathspey, which had a Mirror reel and that went also superb! Just before the class we learnt from the radio, that Dolly Parton passed away… 😞 I really wanted to dedicate a dance for her, and of course we forgot it, but I think this strathspey should be the one. She brought so much sunshine in so many people’s life and I am sure her memory will live long!💫♥️

We had a short break and we finished the class with Star Trek, which was a great fun dance. It is interesting that the progression is not for first couple to the bottom but fourth couple to the top. Just to keep us on our toes till the very end.⭐️

We said Arrivederci to our Italian friends Garrick and Elena, we got so used to their company and the group will miss them a lot. ♥️We hope to see you back in Bo’ness next year and in the meantime we see you soon in Italy!😘

Thank you so much all of you for coming and being so amazing!

Hope to see many of you next week!

Last Tuesday we had 26 dancers on the dance floor and a very special guest joined us. Our lovely friend Maggie from Bristol area came to dance with us!

We did our best to bring back the sunshine so we did some interesting dances and believe or not the sun has returned to Scotland.

We started with Welcome followed by The Road to Rheindown, which sounded for me as Raindown! It was a fun dance!

We danced Eclipse to celebrate the recent partial eclipse, which was unfortunately not visible where I was but at least we danced it.

We did Barnyard Geese which is an easier version of the Wild Geese.

We did Silverdale Sunset, which was an interesting strathspey with Balance-in-Line and a bit trickier progression. But those of us who braved this dance we enjoyed it.

We finished the evening with St Mary’s Summer Fair.

Hope to see many of you this week as well.

We had a wonderful time last Tuesday celebrating some special birthdays at our Summer Ceilidh in Bo'ness - August. 🎂 It was the 8th anniversary of our beloved group and it was my birthday as well beside our lovely friend, Garrick.🥂

What a special day!⭐️

We had more than 40 participants, Robert from Tasmania, Debbie from Hungary, Matthew and his family from Columbia/Oman, Garrick and Elena from Italy joined us beside people from Bo’ness, Linlithgow, Falkirk, Tillycultry, East Calder, Philipstoun, Denny, Livingston, Newmills and Low Valleyfield.❤️

We had a very special blind visitor, who joined us in some of the dances. It was so wonderful to see how you were all supporting him and being so inclusive.❤️

We did lot’s of fun dances, of course we did The Tassie Devil, such a fun dance from our friend Tony from Tasmania. Also Robert thought us one of his own dance Fletchers’ Folly.😊

Phill and Iain played super tunes through the whole night.❤️

At the break we had a wonderful buffet, with one of the most beautiful and delicious anniversary cake by Shirley.🎂

It is such a special feeling to have this group in our life for 8 years. ❤️ We love seeing some of our original members, still dancing with us and all the new members, who joined us in later years, sharing the love of Scottish dancing and music with us.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️

Thank you so much for being part of our life and cheers for the next dancing year together.🥂

Happy dancing,

On Tuesday we had a wonderful class with 16 dancers, which is a dream to work with.😊

We welcomed back Barbara and also Minka (7) joins us again. ❤️

Phill played wonderful tunes for us, which was a treat after the last week recorded music.❤️

We started with Circle of Cheer and practised a bit the circle and the Rights and Lefts.

We did Saturday Morning Jig, which was a new dance for us, it is on the program of the Scotch Hop (the program you can find here: https://my.strathspey.org/dd/list/73328/), where a few of our dancers will go for their first time next week.😊

As we had the perfect number we did two square set dances. The Balmullo Reel is so much fun, it has circle Balance-in-Line.

We did Summer Classes, which is a medley written by our friend Rob, it has a Left-Hand-Chain (Men’s Chain), it was a new figure for us and all of you did fantastic. I think it really helped that we did the dance first in strathspey time and then in quick time.😊

After the break we did a lovely 5 couple square set dance Ready Aye Ready. We slightly modified it by omitting the turn rights in bar 17-24 and as I was not wearing my glasses I made a mistake with one of the stars direction, but it was a fun dance and it was again something very new for us to have 5 couple in this set up. We will definitely will repeat it, hopefully with the right instructions.😀🙈

We finished the evening with the Virginia Reel and a special request from Minka.❤️

I hope you enjoyed as much as I did the dancing with you.❤️

Hope to see many of you on Tuesday on our special Summer Ceilidh in Bo'ness - August 7-10pm. Bring a plate of food to share and celebrate together the 8 years anniversary of our group.🥂😊🎂

Happy Dancing,Zsofi
