❤️🚑 COULD YOU BE THE NEXT PIECE OF OUR PUZZLE? WE'RE RECRUITING! 🚑❤️

We're a small charity with a big heart, and we're looking for three fantastic volunteers to join our team at BARCFR!

As a charity supporting the communities we cover, every person who gives their time, skills and enthusiasm helps us continue our work. Now, we're looking for some new faces to help us move forward and one of these opportunities might be just right for you!

✨ We're recruiting for three volunteer roles:

❤️ Chairperson | Voluntary Trustee

Are you a collaborative, down-to-earth leader who enjoys bringing people together? Help guide our charity's future, support our small team and lead our friendly committee meetings.

📋 Secretary | Voluntary Trustee

Are you organised, friendly and good at keeping things on track? Help our charity committee stay organised, compliant and connected, working closely with our Chair.

🎉 Fundraising & Events Co-ordinator | Voluntary

Are you creative, energetic and full of ideas? Help us raise vital funds, organise community events and spread the word about what we do.

You don't need to be a superhero to make a difference. Sometimes the skills you already have are exactly what a small charity needs! 💗

We're a welcoming team and would love to have an informal chat with anyone interested before they apply.

📧 Want to find out more? Email [email protected] to register your interest.

Even if none of these roles is right for you, we'd be incredibly grateful if you could share this post. Someone in your network might be the perfect person to join us!

Together, we can help our small but mighty charity keep moving forward. ❤️

🥳 Happy 1st Birthday To BARCFR 🎉

Woow, where has the past year gone... this day last year, 8 of us sat in the BARI Food & Refill Building having our very first meeting and getting BARCFR in motion. We are not operational yet but here are some achievements we have done in the past year.

- Gained OSCR Charity Status (26th Jan)
- Secured 1 Grant (The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland)
- Raised just under £5000 from events and the generosity of the community and local businesses.
- Held a Raffle in Tesco and engaged with quite a few of you.
- Attended 5 Local Events to raise awareness of our charity.
- So much more...

We would just love to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support while we navigate this next phase to being operational. We have our interviews with the Scottish Ambulance Service & Scottish Ambulance Service Community Resilience Team in the coming weeks so hopefully we will be able to go live before March 2027 but we will keep you updated on our progress.

Thank you all again

⚠️This is a conversation we need to have. ⚠️

In an emergency, hesitation can cost lives. Some people may feel unsure about touching a woman's chest, removing clothing, or using a defibrillator. However, when an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is needed, the chest must be exposed so the pads can be placed correctly. This may involve removing or cutting away clothing, including a bra.

If someone is unconscious and not breathing normally:

📞 Call 999
🫀 Start CPR
⚡ Get an AED
➡️ Follow the voice instructions

Don't let embarrassment, fear, or uncertainty prevent you from taking action.

It's important to remember that an AED will assess the person's heart rhythm and will only deliver a shock if one is needed.

When someone goes into cardiac arrest, every second counts. They need immediate help, regardless of their gender. Your actions could save a life.

Do you know what these are for and where to find them?

Today, St Andrew’s First Aid is proud to support World Sepsis Day. ❤️

Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection that can affect anyone, at any age. Recognising the signs and seeking medical help quickly can save lives.

Knowing what to look out for could make all the difference. Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the signs of sepsis and remember:

SPOT IT. TREAT IT. BEAT IT.

If you think someone may be showing signs of sepsis, seek medical help immediately.

Together, we can raise awareness, recognise the signs and help save lives.
