Blaenavon Horticultural Society

Blaenavon Horticultural Society Gardening and home crafts to suit every age group and ability. We regularly meet for demonstrations and talks on a variety of subjects.

Blaenavon Horticultural Society was formed shortly after the second world war to promote and showcase the gardening skills of the people of Blaenavon and district areas. The society actively encourages people of all ages and abilities to join them in a variety of events including an annual spring and autumn show. Past talks have included rose growing, chocolate production and card making. We run a

n annual summer garden competition for businesses and the community. This includes front and back gardens, forecourts, patios and allotments. Gardens can be nominated by a friend/neighbour/clientele. We arrange social trips throughout the year, visiting a range of venues. We have visited The National Botanical Gardens of Wales, Annual Spring Show at Malvern and national open garden festivals. We also arrange group meetings at local businesses such as Secret Gardens in Mamhilad and McDonalds Garden Centre in Abergavenny where we have behind the scene tours and opportunity to purchase new lines and products. We have an open to all society Christmas lunch. Places are reserved on a first come first serve basis.
