This week marks Myeloma Awareness Week 🩸
Myeloma is the third most common blood cancer, but it is frequently missed because the symptoms themselves are vague and often linked to ageing or minor conditions.
Know the facts:
⭕ Myeloma is an incurable blood cancer that occurs in the bone marrow and currently affects more than 33,000 people in the UK.
⭕Myeloma mainly affects those over the age of 65.
⭕While the risk remains relatively low, myeloma is 2–3 times more common in black people than white people. Myeloma is also more likely to affect black people at a younger age than people from other ethnic groups.
⭕While it is incurable, myeloma is treatable in the majority of cases.
Know the facts. Know the symptoms.
