NEXT AT PRECIOUS GEMS: POLY STYRENE: I AM A CLICHÉ: A personal portrait of the trailblazing frontwoman of X-Ray Spex.

Poly Styrene was unlike anyone else in punk. A mixed race, braces wearing teenage girl who refused the tough bloke template, she screamed about consumerism, identity, sexism and disposable culture with songs that sound very relevant today.

And this isn’t your standard music documentary. Co-directed and narrated by Poly’s daughter, Celeste Bell, the film retraces her mother’s life through unseen archive footage, diaries and the places that influenced her. It’s punk history, but it’s also a mother daughter story about the complicated person behind an icon.

Another month, another great film! Thank you to everyone who made it- and if we were the only ones in tears a couple of times, we’ll be amazed!
Keep your eyes peeled for our next lineup- we will be taking a break over August, and offering a FREE social instead! September we will be bringing you our first documentary 👀

An experiment in drinking turns into a big old lesson in living 🫠 Four mates slip into their midlife crises and come up with an unusual theory... It’s going to be a brilliant film to watch as a community, see you there! 👏

What could possibly go wrong? This is definitely one to watch as part of a group ⭐️

A film that starts with a high minded, philosophical experiment between a bunch of mates who find themselves walking through their lives without feeling much anymore.

The resulting chaos is both funny and unexpectedly moving. Another Round digs deep into friendship, anxiety, personal limits and the stories we tell ourselves about what makes life worth living. It’s as thought provoking as it is entertaining, and there’s plenty to discuss afterwards.

In a few Sundays time we will be showing a film full of long sunsets and short snippets of nomadic lives. It’s a film that involves all of the senses, with one of the most beautiful scores, on top of all that scenery and stunning cinematography. Secure your seat on the 24th May, doors 2pm

This film is going to have us all feeling things! Huge skylines, the tiny details of peoples lives- an incredible film from Chloe Zhao with an incredible performance from France’s MacDormand, you’ll want to be there for this one.
