As part of National Cadets Week, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible volunteers who give their time, experience and commitment to support our young people at 2504 (Fordbridge) Squadron. From delivering training and creating new opportunities, to providing leadership, encouragement and guidance, our volunteers play a huge part in helping our cadets develop confidence, learn new skills and achieve their potential. A massive thank you to Pilot Officer Kiely, Pilot Officer Jarvis, Sergeant Watkins, Civilian Instructor Robbins, Sergeant Jordon and Squadron Leader Maher for everything you do for the squadron and our cadets — your dedication really does make a difference!

Cadets and staff from 2504 Squadron, joined by Sqn Ldr Foster and Wg Cdr Cassidy attended the Solihull Scours Discovery Camp. A massive multi-section County Camp organised by Solihull Scouts that brings together thousands of young people and adult volunteers for a weekend of outdoor adventure, skill-building, and community.

We were proud to attend and engage with young people and volunteers to introduce them to what we do and we really did have a blast.

Did you know Sqn Ldr Foster was drumming virtuoso?

On Tuesday 30th September, we said farewell to one of our NCOs.

Sgt Taylor-Clarke joined us in 2022 and has become a hugely valued member of our NCO team. Over the last few years, she has given a lot to the squadron, always getting stuck in our events, teaching and supporting our cadets.

It’s been a real pleasure having her as part of 2504, and she will certainly be missed by cadets and staff alike.

Thank you for everything, Sgt Taylor-Clarke. We wish you all the very best for your future - don’t be a stranger!

On the evening of the 30th September - Flight Sergeant Cadby attended Wing HQ for her Cadet Warrant Officer promotion board with OC Wing and the Wing Warrant Officer - the highest rank a cadet can achieve and a hugely coveted one, and we are extremely proud to say that SHE PASSED!

Following CWO Cadby’s amazing trip to the US on the Air Cadet Exchange, it’s safe to say this has been a year to remember.

A huge congratulations from the OC and all of the staff, we are all so proud and it’s entirely deserved.

Wing Competition Day 2026! 🏆

Our cadets put in a brilliant effort across the day, showing great teamwork, determination and squadron spirit throughout the different activities and competitions. We’re especially proud to come away as the Shooting Competition winners! 🎯🥇

A huge thank you to all of the staff who gave up their time to organise, support and run the day, and to everyone involved in making the competition such an enjoyable experience for our cadets.

A few words from OC2504:
“Wing Competition Day is one of the most important days in our calendar. It brings together cadets from all squadrons and allows them to engage in friendly competition with their peers - and I couldn’t be prouder of our cadets. For the second year in a row we have brought home a trophy with our cadets competing confidently and representing the Squadron brilliantly throughout the day.

I want to thank them all and our amazing staff for their efforts”

Well done to everyone who represented the Squadron, a great result and plenty to build on as we look ahead to 2027!

What did you do this weekend? 🎯

Cadets from 2504 (Fordbridge) Squadron and 2028 (Southam) Squadron gathered at our local squadron HQ for a weekend of weapons training and Live Fire Marksmanship Training!

During this activity, cadets were taught safe handling of the BSA Scorpion Cadet Sporter Air R***e, they worked on their marksmanship skills and were tested on their handling skills during a formal assessment known as a Weapons Handling Test (WHT)

Completion of the WHT allows cadets to move onto Live Fire Marksmanship Training where the theory was put into practice and the cadets got their first taste of target shooting.

Plt Off Jarvis, Skill at Arms Instructor for the weekend said; “It is always a please to teach weapon handling skills, watching young people grow in their abilities and confidence. The air r***e platform used allows for a great foundation before moving onto larger or more complex cadet weapon systems such as the L98A2 Cadet Purpose R***e!”

2504 Squadron would like to offer a sincere thank you to Sergeant Ben Weller of 2028 Southam Squadron ATC Royal Air Force Air Cadets for assisting with both the IWT and range day. Alongside 165 Castle Bromwich Squadron ATC for the generous use of their range!

Cadets are taught weapon handling skills as part of a structured programme of supervised training that emphasises safe and responsible use.
