✨ Happy Mother’s Day ✨

Although I know I’m still a mother, sometimes it does feel weird saying it. Another year on without Shia, and If I’m honest, this year actually feels harder than the first. People assume it gets easier with time, but sometimes the opposite happens. The reality settles in a little more.

Today I’m sending so much love to every mum and extra love to those whose baby is in heaven, in their heart, and deeply missed. Your motherhood didn’t disappear when your baby did.

You are still a mum. Always.

I’ve added a template to this post that you can copy and share if you’d like, just add your baby’s name so it reads “I am ___’s Mother.” A small way to say their name and honour them today. 🩵

Be gentle with yourself. 🕊️

✨ Capturing joy alongside grief ✨

A beautiful space with African Caribbean and South Asian parents who have experienced baby loss, coming together in community, honesty and understanding.

There were sad stories, of course, but there was also laughter, warmth, and moments of joy. Not because our babies aren’t missed, but because joy and grief can exist side by side.

It was powerful to be in a room acknowledging the inequalities our communities face, while also celebrating the collective work being done to ensure bereaved parents and families are better supported, seen and heard.

No one would ever choose to be part of the loss community, but when you find yourself here, there is something really special about being in a room with people who just get it. People who understand the unspoken, who hold space without explanation.

Grateful to .sands .sands.acc for creating space for these conversations and connections. Days like this remind me why this work matters so much 🩵✨

✨ Happy New Year ✨

I’m posting this a few days late, and that’s okay.

The start of this year was emotionally heavy for me, and I needed to give myself a little space. If you’re feeling the same, please know there’s no right way to enter a new year. You’re allowed to move slowly, to feel tender, to take your time.

Thank you to everyone who supported, encouraged, prayed for, donated to, shared, attended, or simply held space for The Shia Family throughout 2025. I truly couldn’t do this without you, and I’m so grateful for this community.

As we step into this new year, I’m praying for strength, gentleness, healing, and hope — for myself, and for each of you. May this year meet us with compassion, and may we continue to show up for each other, even on the hard days.

Wishing you a gentle and hopeful year ahead 🩵✨
