Founding Principles
At Trans Pride Birmingham
We were founded in 2021 to organise Trans Pride in Birmingham. We are entirely independent from Birmingham Pride.
We use the term trans as an umbrella term which encompasses any experience and/or expression of gender, including lack of gender, which is beyond the cisheteronormative binary.
We are intersex inclusive, and we welcome members of the intersex community to attend all of our events.
We have zero tolerance for discrimination based on lived experiences, characteristics, and/or identities. This includes, but is not limited to, transmisogyny, transphobia, racism, colourism, sexism, misogyny, misogynoir, ableism, any form of Q***rphobia, fatphobia, classism, xenophobia, anti-semitism, islamophobia, anti-traveller sentiment, anti-sex-worker sentiment, and more.
We actively try to make our campaigns and events as accessible as possible. This includes access for people with disabilities, additional needs, learning differences, neurodivergence, and/or mental health issues. It also includes access for Global Majority people, underclass/working class people, and migrants. We are always open to feedback and people joining our collective to increase accessibility.
All of our events are free. We do not want finances to be a barrier to accessing anything we do. We welcome donations; however, this is not enforced at the potential donor’s discretion.
We welcome everyone to attend the majority of our events. This includes cisgender allies. On the rare occasions that we run an event just for the trans community, we ask that cisgender people do not attend.
