You may already be aware that Jordan and Cian Adams have been running 33 marathons in 33 days, one in every Irish county, and today they will finish in Dublin. Their mom was diagnosed and died with Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia and both of these amazing young lads know that they will also develop this cruel disease and die years before their time. They took on this challenge to raise funds and awareness of dementia, in all its forms, and to date have raised over 1.5 million pounds. They have been working with the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, where my lovely brother-in-law chaired their board of trustees, having been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers in 2018, before he became too unwell to continue. Today would have been their mom’s 63rd birthday so if you have any spare pennies please consider donating to these Redditch lads at the link below

When the wonderful residents at Grosvenor Court on Kings Norton Green heard about the break in at The Green Day Nursery when equipment was stolen and damaged, they immediately set to fundraising for the children who attend the Nursery.
This morning I had the pleasure of being present when a cheque for £250 was handed over to some of the staff and children who came to Grosvenor Court to meet the folk who had worked hard to raise funds.
The children also went back to nursery with bookmarks and coasters for everyone hand made by Barbara, a Grosvenor Court resident.
This is Kings Norton North where we support and care for each other.

This week is Dementia Action Week (18–24 May)!

It is a national awareness campaign led by Alzheimer’s Society each year in the UK. It brings people together to raise awareness and support those affected by dementia. With 1 in 3 people currently undiagnosed, this year’s theme highlights the importance of early and accurate diagnosis, which can make a real difference to people and their families.

💚Common signs of dementia include:
• Memory loss affecting daily life
• Difficulty planning or problem solving
• Struggling with familiar tasks
• Confusion about time or place

If you’re concerned about yourself or someone you care about, speak to your GP. Find out why diagnosis is important and download Alzheimer’s Society checklist for dementia symptoms.
