With profound grief, we announce the tragic passing of Br Kebba and his four beloved children, who drowned on Sunday 22nd March 2026 in The Gambia.
Although many may not have known him by name, Br Kebba was one of the quiet pillars behind As-Suffa’s work in West Africa. A trustee of As-Suffa, West Africa, and the lead of our projects in West Africa, he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the service of Islam and the Muslim community. After spending 14 years in the UK, he returned to his homeland to serve his people sincerely for the sake of Allah.
There, he founded Al-Furqan, a school that became widely regarded as the best Islamic school in The Gambia. So many Gambian parents from the West longed to place their children under his care and vision. He was instrumental in the success of As-Suffa work in West Africa, and without his sacrifice, effort, and sincerity, many of these projects would never have come to fruition. He did all of this without any worldly compensation.
Today, The Gambia and the wider Ummah have lost a sincere servant of Allah.
We pray that Allah grants Br Kebba and his children the highest ranks of Jannatul Firdaws, accepts them among the righteous, and grants their family and loved ones beautiful patience and strength.
إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون
We request every person who reads this to recite the Three Quls and make heartfelt du'a for them. Even if you did not know him personally, his service was a service to all of us.
