Charlotte Louise - our Communications & Funding Officer - was interviewed this week for Brum Radio Poets with Rick Sanders and aired this morning, about her work across the arts and the environment, and chose to have one of her poems pinned through the Overhear app at Druids Heath The Green Forest Garden. This is to raise awareness of the recent fires that happened around the West Midlands, one of which scorched the forest garden here on The Dell, and to remind us that mother nature needs our help now more than ever.

Next time you visit The Green Forest Garden, be sure to download the Overhear app, and listen to this powerful response to what happened over the summer.

Fruit & Nut Village are delighted to announce that we've been shortlisted as Finalists for Charity of the Year in the upcoming Birmingham Awards 2026!

"The finalists for the 11th Birmingham Awards have officially been announced, following another phenomenal response from across the city.

Now in their 11th year, the Birmingham Awards have become an important celebration of the people, businesses, organisations and initiatives helping to shape Birmingham and make a positive difference to the city and its communities.

This year saw an incredible number of nominations submitted across the awards categories, making the process of selecting the 2026 finalists particularly challenging.

The quality, diversity and strength of nominations demonstrated once again just how much talent, passion, enterprise and community spirit exists across Birmingham."

The public voting portion of the award process opens on 28th September, and we need your help - we will be posting the voting link when it's live and would greatly appreciate the support from our friends, partners, and volunteers.

There are some incredible charities on the shortlist, and we are incredibly grateful to be amongst them. Thank you!

Introducing our new Trainee Area Managers!

"Hi, I’m Kate. I’ve always had a love of the natural world, and I’m particularly interested in the benefits that spending time in nature can have on health and wellbeing. Through my own experience of community gardening, I’ve seen how gardening can create opportunities for connection, learning, and improved wellbeing. I’m excited to bring this passion into my role as a Trainee Area Manager, helping bring people together to grow food and enjoy nature in local, thriving forest gardens."

We have recently taken on three new Trainee Area Managers, and we would like to introduce them! Starting with Qaanita:

"Hi I'm Qaanita, one of the three trainee area managers for FNV. Having come from a background of working in education and wellbeing, I'm really excited to combine this with my passion for nature, food growing and making this an accessible space. It's a wonderful opportunity to work with our volunteers so we can grow Birmingham together!"
