After dietitians were recognised in Parliament during the recent AHP workforce debate, the BDA has returned to Westminster to keep that momentum going, this time taking the case for practical dietary health policy directly to MPs at the launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Dietary Health.

BDA dietitians took a clear message to Parliament: food policy has to reflect affordability, access and the realities people face every day.

They spoke with parliamentarians about up to date dietary guidance, food insecurity, prevention and the role dietitians can play in shaping healthier public policy.

🆕 Introducing our new resource to help people eat and live well while taking medications for obesity.

With 95% of people who take medications for obesity not going through the NHS, few are getting adequate support with understanding how they affect health, how to manage their side effects and what behavioural changes are required to maximise long-term weight loss, once they stop taking them.

This free, first-of-its-kind guide for healthcare professionals and the public provides practical, trustworthy advice to help people optimise outcomes, maintain health and better understand how these medications work.

A huge achievement by the BDA Obesity Specialist Group and everyone involved in developing it.

📝 We, along with 14 other health unions, are calling on our members to sign an open letter to Health Secretary Wes Streeting on the 3.3% pay rise for NHS staff.

You told us in our recent temperature check survey that you were disappointed and let down by the pay award.

We have written this open letter with the other health unions to strengthen our call for extra funding for the long‑delayed pay restructure.

We need you to sign the petition to keep up the pressure on the government and highlight our members' concerns.
