We’re having a bit of a Social media spring clean as there has been lots to share with you all!

On Monday 23rd March we had our first sharing event of the year! It was particularly exciting because it was the first time our new tutors had led their own activities as part of a performance with Melody. Some highlights included:
- Count on Me 🔢
- O when the saints 😇 (with improvised solos)
- The Ordinary 🎶
- Making Music 🎧🎤 in which our MMB Band explored music technology and modified instruments

Well done to our performers and tutors!

We also have some news 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️
Our MMB Band leader Abbie Pascoe and Trustee James Kidd will be running the Birmingham half marathon in support of Melody! We are exploring finding ways to musically support Abbie on the day to spur her on!

If you feel as though you could contribute then please consider donating using the link below:

And that’s a wrap for our Spring term!!! Over the past two weeks Melody has ran not only our first sharing event since Summer 2023 (all of our students were SUPER STARS 🤩) we also delivered our first EVER relaxed concert to the students and families at Melody.

Coordinated and presented by MMB Band leader Abbie and Band tutor Ellie, our fabulous volunteer tutors and two of our students Ben and Fabian performed a diverse range of repertoire to a packed audience - it was EPIC!!!!!

We’ll be back at the end of April for more music making together 🎶

Meet our fantastic new Lead Music Facilitators here at Melody Music Birmingham!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

MMB Musicians Lead facilitator 🎶

Emily Dore is a Birmingham-based freelance musician and SEND specialist practitioner. She works as a music facilitator for Big Top Musical Adventures CIC and is involved with In Harmony, a community music program which engages young people and families in Telford schools. With a deep passion for inclusive and creative music-making, Emily began volunteering for Melody in 2018 and is excited to step into the role of lead practitioner for MMB Musicians.

MMB Band Lead Facilitator 🎶

Abbie is a specialist music practitioner delivering music workshops for children and young people with learning disabilities with several organisations across the Midlands, including Big Top Musical Adventures, The Amber Trust and Cheltenham Music Festival. Additionally, she helps to organise and deliver the Cheltenahm Music Festival’s annual Relaxed Concert for Schools.

A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, it was during her studies that Abbie first joined Melody Music Birmingham as a volunteer in 2019. She now looks forward to fulfilling the role of Lead Music Facilitator for the MMB Band from September 2024!

Developing her practice further, Abbie is currently studying for her MA Inclusion (SLD/PMLD) at the University of Birmingham, researching musical approaches for children with severe learning disabilities and autism.
