The forecasted furnace temperatures in Birmingham thankfully didn't happen this evening. That said, it was hot enough for cold drinks to be in demand; not just for people we met on the streets, but for us volunteers too.
We had our usual supplies of food, drinks, toiletries, summer clothes and all other essentials, and ran out of the lot by 9pm.

Other than a couple of feisty idiots, everyone was very grateful and kept us busy making sure they got what they needed. So busy, I forgot to take pictures other than the team shot at the end.

It was a beautiful, mild evening on the streets of Birmingham tonight, which made a nice change from the blistering heat of recent weeks. Our shift started fairly quietly, but soon ramped up as the street lovies realised where we were. There were a few that had been overdoing something or other today, but most were just grateful to see us. We handed out all our usual items; hot and cold food, hot and cold drinks, toiletries, clothes, socks and boxers, and as ever got rid of the lot. Unfortunately, we ran out of most things before the hot drinks, which kept John busy after we'd all given up. 😆

It was another balmy hot and sticky night on the streets of Birmingham this evening. But Summer brings on a whole load of different challenges for people living rough and for those like us trying to help. So we try to change what we do; e.g. lots more drinks and different types of clothing and toiletries.
As usual though, we had all our supplies prepared; several hot food choices, Greggs bags, hot and cold drinks, clothing, toiletries, boxers, socks and rucksacks. And as usual, we finished with virtually nothing left.

A very busy night in brum with the weather so hot we saw more people out on the streets - a good night and served up 42 hot meals of chicken casserole/ veg lasagne/ chicken curry despite the heat the homeless was great full for a hot dinner. Snack bags and water / toiletries and clothes./ hot drinks .
Thank you to all the volunteers as it was a very hot day and they battled through the heat to help feed the homeless .
Thank you to all are supporters who cook fresh meals and donate snacks and cold drinks .

We were warned (thanks Flanagan) that the "loopy juice" had hit the streets today and we certainly saw the evidence tonight. Many folks were totally off their faces, so we did our best to manage or avoid them. That said, we had a sizeable team of volunteers tonight, so we were able to hand out all the usual stuff, help those really in need, and get through unscathed and finish empty handed.

It was a real challenge last night with the heat. It was SO hot, but a big thank you to all the volunteers for coming out on the hottest day.
We had hot food and puddings which all went down well, lots of snack bags, hot and cold drinks plus toiletries and clothes.

The temperature tonight was balmy, and what we did was also balmy. It started so quiet (see first picture), then went completely bonkers (see second and third pictures). We didn't mind at all though, as it meant that once again, we ended the night empty handed; cleared out of 4 x hot dinner choices, hot drinks, cakes, Greggs, clothes, toiletries, sleeping bags and socks & underwear.
We had no Janet or Clare tonight, so it was left to me (Ian) to direct things and to pretend I knew what I was doing. Hope I wasn't too much of a disaster. 😀

The damp and chilly weather returned tonight, so the city centre was fairly quiet all round. That said, our supplies of hot & cold food, hot drinks, toiletries and clothing were still very much in demand. Once again, we started with fully laden trollies and ended the night with nothing left. Other than a couple of numpties at the end, everyone we served was very appreciative, and I have to give a special shout out to guy in the photo, who was utterly delighted with his new coat.
