Orthoptics is a small but crucial field of Ophthalmology, specialising in eye co-ordination and motility disorders. With four universities in Liverpool, Sheffield, UCL and Glasgow training the new workforce, Orthoptics is an ever- growing profession. BIOS is a professional and educational body that supports Orthoptists in the UK and Republic of Ireland; it is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. Membership is open to all Orthoptists holding a Diploma of the British and Irish Orthoptic Society or a recognised degree in Orthoptics from the UK, European Union or worldwide.
