Sutton Coldfield NNS connecting with Minworth - we supported the local community in Minworth to organise a fantastic community engagement and networking event last weekend. Over 80 people attended the event including local charity, cultural and community groups, 5 local councillors including Nitish Raut, Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield and talented musicians offering performances and tuition. It was a great day of connectivity and diversity. Big thanks to Father Jools for hosting the event at St George the Martyr Church, to all the groups and citizens who helped to organise the event and to Kamleish and colleagues on the SCNNS team for hard work in putting the event on. As the Mayor said in his speech, Sutton Coldfield embraces and values the community of Minworth.

Connecting with the Fire Service in Sutton

Kamleish and Pete from Sutton Coldfield Neighbourhood Network Scheme enjoyed a great day of connectivity at the open day of Sutton Coldfield Fire Station yesterday, promoting the local work of the NNS and our lead organisation Age Connects West Midlands. Our table was right at the entrance of the station so it was a good opportunity to talk to families on the way into this thriving open day event with hundreds of attendees throughout the day.
The event, organised by station commander Paul Staples and his brilliant team featured many stalls and activities around emergency rescue and first aid support, especially popular with families of young children. Everything from cardiac resuscitation to photos with Fireman Sam, we had many useful conversations with parents and carers about the many services we have on offer.

Thank you to Paul and all the professional and volunteer fire, police and ambulance personnel for inviting us to this well organised and well attended event close to the centre of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield.

A list of upcoming Nutrition Workshops at the Cancer Support Centre - sessions funded by Sutton Coldfield NNS.

Every month, we have a nutrition workshop run by our Registered Associate Nutritionist, Meg Butler. Meg helps and supports people to improve their nutrition and overall diet through education, coaching, and behaviour change.

(You can also book a 121 with Meg, for personalised advice.)

The talks are always on the 3rd Thursday of each month, at 10am. There’s no charge, although a donation is always welcome, and you don’t have to book.

Here’s what’s coming up:

20th August - The Truth About Sugar

17th September - Benefits of the Mediterranean Diet

15th October - Gut Health

19th November - Nutrition Through Winter

17th December - Healthy Choices

💬 Here’s some feedback that we’ve had about the workshops:

‘Always beneficial and I learn something new every time! ’

‘I found that I learn lots each time, fabulous information! ’

‘I have found them very informative and it is always nice to share ideas with others in the group.’

Thank you so much to Sutton Coldfield NNS for funding these workshops.

Joe popped along to the Our Place Networking event last week, designed for the VCFSE sector who support people in Sutton Coldfield. If you would like to get involved, keep your eyes peeled for the next session after the Summer break.

Thank you to Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust for hosting our final networking meeting before a short summer break, and what a fantastic session it was.

It was great to welcome both new and familiar organisations, all coming together to share the amazing support, services, and opportunities available for Sutton Coldfield residents.

If you're part of the VCFSE sector and support people in Sutton Coldfield, we'd love for you to join us when we return.
