Last Friday, we gathered in the Communitea Café to say farewell to Joe, our NNS Neighbourhood Networker and Digital Inclusion Officer.

Joe has been a valued member of the Age Connects West Midlands team for the past five years and will be very much missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of working with him.

Thank you, Joe, for your hard work, dedication and friendship. We wish you every success in your next chapter and know you won't be a stranger.

We can offer free funded places (up to two per organisation) on Our Place Support Safeguarding training course. It is CPD Approved and is suitable for those working with children, young people and adults.

Has your community group or organisation heard about the ScrewFix Foundation?

The Screwfix Foundation is a registered charity set up in 2013 in the UK and launched in the Republic of Ireland in 2025. They offer local registered charities and not for profit organisations funding in the region of £5,000. All applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis, the review dates are in March, June, September and December.

Before applying for funding from The Screwfix Foundation, your organisation MUST:

👉Be a registered charity or not for profit organisation.
👉Help those in need. This could be by reason of financial hardship, sickness, distress or other disadvantages in the UK.
👉Be looking for funding to support projects that relate to the repair, maintenance, improvement or construction of. homes, community buildings and other buildings.

Soothing Stitches have been recently funded by Sutton Coldfield NNS to provide a series of creative workshops, starting mid September, for people aged over 50, utilising stitch, clay and paper craft.

They will be taking place on alternate weeks in the following locations:
📍 Communitea Cafe, 76-78 Boldmere Rd B73 5TJ
📅Alternate Mondays, 2-4pm starting from 21st September

📍Wylde Green URC Church, Britwell Rd, B73 5SW
📅Alternate Tuesdays, 11am-1pm starting from 15th September

Sutton Coldfield NNS connecting with Minworth - we supported the local community in Minworth to organise a fantastic community engagement and networking event last weekend. Over 80 people attended the event including local charity, cultural and community groups, 5 local councillors including Nitish Raut, Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield and talented musicians offering performances and tuition. It was a great day of connectivity and diversity. Big thanks to Father Jules for hosting the event at St George the Martyr Church, to all the groups and citizens who helped to organise the event and to Kamleish and colleagues on the SCNNS team for hard work in putting the event on. As the Mayor said in his speech, Sutton Coldfield embraces and values the community of Minworth.
