Sheilla Wanza joined Out of Afrika while she was in Class Seven at Matopeni Primary School.
She later proceeded to Ikutha Secondary School for her secondary education and successfully completed her Form Four examinations in April 2021. She performed well in her examinations
and, in September 2021, joined Eldoret Polytechnic to pursue a course in Guidance and Counselling. She successfully completed her studies and graduated in December 2025.
Following her graduation, Sheilla has been actively applying her skills in the Samburu region of Kenya, where many children and parents face challenges related to malnutrition and limited
access to social support services. Through her training in guidance and counselling, she has been providing much-needed psychosocial support, mentorship, and counselling services to vulnerable
children and families in the community. Her work is contributing positively to the well-being
and resilience of the people she serves.
Sheilla’s dedication, compassion, and commitment to community service demonstrate her
passion for improving the lives of others and making a meaningful impact in society.

Thirteen years since we lost Julie, but her memory is always with us. She may be gone from sight, yet she remains present in the love she gave, the lessons she left behind, and the moments that still come back with unexpected clarity.

Today we remember her with gratitude, and we hold close the ways she continues to shape us—quietly, faithfully, and forever. x
