Beauty for Ashes is part of the work we do in supporting survivors of domestic abuse. This peer support group is specifically for female Christian survivors as we often face unique institutional and psychological barriers that standard secular services might not fully address.

We have found that meeting together as women of faith with similar experiences offers huge benefits that are crucial to our healing.

✨ Deconstructs Spiritual Abuse:

Abusers frequently distort scripture to enforce submission, isolation, or silent suffering. A faith-informed peer group helps us safely unpack these distortions, reassuring us that God hates the harm caused to us and He loves us with a perfect love.

Look out for our posts over the next few days as we look at some of the other benefits of this group. We well look at :

✨ Overcoming Faith Based Stigma
✨ Safe Exploration of Forgiveness
✨ Restoration of Spiritual Identity
✨ Belonging
✨Therapeutic Benefits of Crafting
Together

Come as you are. You'll be met with compassion, understanding and support.

If you or someone you know needs a place to begin again, we're here. 💜

💜 Domestic abuse is not just a personal issue. It's a workplace issue. A community issue. A church issue. A societal issue.

💜 Let's break the silence around domestic abuse.

💜 If you need help call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline:
0808 2000 247
In an emergency call 999.

💜 To make a silent 999 call from a mobile in the UK, dial 999, listen for the automated message, and if you can't speak, press 55 when prompted to connect to the police. This system, called the Silent Solution, identifies genuine emergencies when a caller is unable to speak. If you are unable to press 55, a short cough or tapping the phone can also signal a genuine emergency. Remember that pressing 55 only works on mobile phones.

The Hope Project Coseley, working in partnership with New Hope Baptist Church , part of the Restored Beacon Network, launched the “Have a Heart” campaign in November. The project aims to support survivors of domestic abuse while encouraging open conversations about an issue that often remains hidden.

At the heart of the campaign are hundreds of purple crocheted hearts, lovingly handmade by local women. Purple, recognised internationally as the colour associated with domestic abuse awareness, has been chosen to symbolise hope, courage and solidarity.

Over recent months, local women have been busy crocheting the hearts, which were being displayed with donation boxes across Coseley and surrounding areas.

We are please to share with you the total amount raised is an amazing £708.71!

Every penny is being donated to The Haven in Wolverhampton, a well-established local charity providing specialist support, refuge and outreach services for women and children affected by domestic abuse.

The initiative was founded by “Molly” (not her real name) a survivor of domestic abuse herself and an active member of the community. Molly recruited fellow local women, some of whom attend a survivors’ support group to help crochet the hearts.

Speaking about the project, Molly said: “As a survivor, crocheting has become a mindful activity for me. It helps with healing, but it’s also given us a way to turn something creative into something powerful. Each heart represents love and hope.

The Hope Project Coseley “Have a Heart” will hopefully become an annual campaign, with funds raised each year going to a local organisation that support survivors of domestic abuse.

Simply wearing a badge as a visible sign of support, a small gesture that could help spark a life-changing conversation.

We are so grateful to everyone who chose to display, donate, or wear a "Heart of Hope" badge. Thank you! Your generosity will change lives. 💜

A Christian survivor we support wrote this and we wanted to share it with you.

Winter is seemingly never-ending darkness. Cold days. Freezing nights. Warmth and sunlight seem like distant memories. Icy gusts of wind, fallen trees and broken fences. Snow and ice that melts slightly and refreezes, making driving hazardous and pavements treacherous.

The darkness is not just a lack of light, it everything that accompanies the darkness. Lack of visibility. It''s hard to see the way ahead and it's harder to be seen. Isolation. loneliness. Increased energy usage. It can sap us of our strength, cause fear to rise and make us focus on the darkness and all it's effects.

We can forget the hope of spring and the joy of summer, even the vibrancy of the autumn ahead. We can forget that winter isn't forever.

So today your 'winter' may be an altogether different darkness but it's a darkness all the same. You may be walking through a 'winter' of pain due to a relationship, job, health or financial issue. It may be heartbreak of another kind or of multiple kinds.

Maybe you feel like Jeremiah, he is known as the weeping prophet and he said,
"My soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is" (Lam 3:17 ESV).
Well this is your reminder:
Just as winter turns into spring and the darkest night turns into a brand new day, your winter will one day end.

Jeremiah remembered the answer for his despair:
"This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies are new every morning; great is your faithfulness" ( Lam 3: 21-23)

Jeremiah, although suffering said, "This I call to mind..." He chose to remind himself. We can too.

The 'winter' of domestic abuse can convince you it's all over, that things can't get better, that there is no hope. But as surely as the sun will rise there is. His name is Jesus.

Oh, that we might know the LORD! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring." Hosea 6:3 (NLT).

May your day be filled with hope.

Could you spot the signs of domestic abuse?

Just because you don't have a bruise or broken bones doesn't mean it's not domestic abuse.

If you or someone you care about needs help please contact the National Domestic Abuse Helpline. It's open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Christmastime is not the most wonderful time of the year for everyone. We want you to know that there is help available and there is hope no matter how dark things may be.

What would you advise in this situation?

Domestic abuse isn’t just violence. It can involve isolating someone from their friends or family by doing the following:

• Telling them where they can and cannot go
• Preventing them from seeing loved ones
• Shutting them in the house
• Monitoring or blocking their phone calls, emails and social media accounts.

If you are concerned about your own behaviour or that of a friend of family member there is help available.
