Operation Tulip – Is your outdoor property safe?

Horsham Neighbourhood Policing Team is currently running Operation Tulip, a multi-agency operation to tackle outdoor property theft in the Horsham District.

PC Darren Worsfold would like to say thank you to the volunteers and members of Horsham District Neighbourhood Watch who attended the Operation Tulip presentation held at Horsham Police Station on Monday evening (13 April).

This week we have unfortunately seen a slight increase in the number of reported break-ins to sheds and out buildings and thefts of outdoor property in the district. Please remember to:

- Secure your rear garden by shutting and locking any gates
- Put away tools and gardening equipment securely after use (these can be used to break into your home)
- Remember to always lock your garage door securely and lock any vehicles parked inside
- Security mark or paint property such as lawn mowers, furniture and tools with your postcode and house number
- Advertise the fact that your property is marked and keep a note of serial / make / model numbers
- Ensure that bicycles are security marked and secured to an anchor point inside the shed or garage using a high security lock
- Take photographs of any valuable garden ornaments. If they are stolen, police can circulate the photographs to help with identification
- Register your property for free on immobilise.com

Please report any suspicious activity to Sussex Police by e-mailing [email protected] or by calling us on 101.
