Christmas time at the foodbank sees quite a rise in people needing our services .
From making choices between food and warmth , trying to buy gifts or an unexpected bill or loss of job , we are here for all .

How can you help us , help them ???

Could your work place help do a collection for us over Christmas, to help us keep our shelves stocked ?
Adding additional extras over the festive season helps us give service users festive treats which of course brings some joy when a person is facing crisis.
Selection boxes
Advent calendars
Boxes of chocolates or biscuits ect
Ginger bread kits
Candy canes

Please help us to bring joy this Christmas

Meet some of our members of the northern Devon’s foodbank team and find out why volunteering is important to them 🙌

I am a retired teacher, married with two grown up children and four gorgeous granddaughters. I’ve lived in rural Devon for most of my life and have seen how difficult life can be for people living in remote areas. As well as volunteering at the food bank, I am a volunteer driver taking people to medical appointments and I play for services at our local churches. Volunteering is very important to me because it fills vital service gaps in communities, fosters social connection and reduces isolation. Now that I am retired, it boosts my physical wellbeing and mental health.

Whilst helping even a little, people who need some help I, as an 88 yr old now living alone, benefit greatly from the social contact that the Foodbank gives me as a volunteer .
