Yellow Dog - Some Dogs Need Space
We introduced the Yellow Dog scheme to the UK in 2012 to raise awareness for dogs who need space. We initially began the campaign at Crufts giving away free yellow ribbons - we have since evolved and now stock yellow products including leads, lead covers, vests, human tabards, lead flags and bandanas. Not every dog wants attention, some dogs are in training, som
e dogs have health issues or are recovering from surgery. Some dogs are being rehabilitated or have suffered a bad experience, nervous dogs, or older, fragile dogs that find the world a scary place, through no fault of their own. If you see a dog wearing yellow, please give the dog and its human some space, do not approach this dog. They are indicating that their dog cannot be close to other dogs. Only the dog or his people know, so maintain distance and give them time to move out of your way. We believe that making Yellow an accepted representation throughout the UK will benefit everyone and make dog walking a more enjoyable, and safer experience for all, and in turn give your dog a better quality of life. There are many reasons why a dog may need space:
• Maybe it has health issues or is in training
• It may be a rescue dog being rehabilitated. The world can be a very scary place for these dogs
• It may have had a bad experience with another dog or is just not like the kind of friendly dogs which always want to say “Hi!”
In short, a yellow sign on a dog means it needs a some space. Yellow Dog UK is insured and we have sought legal advice so that we can safely sell our products. If you are purchasing a yellow product from another website please ask to see their legal advice to make sure you are covered in the event of an incident. Those of us who own these dogs appreciate your help and respect.
