Small world was full of meaningful mark-making last week as the children drew family portraits ⭐❤️

This linked beautifully with September’s intent of exploring families and helping the children feel at home at nursery. Inspired by our September core book, ‘The Great Big Book of Families’, the children represented the people who are important to them through their own drawings.

As we explored this week’s theme, the children had the opportunity to make creative choices, talk about their families and develop a growing sense of belonging. Every mark and portrait was valued as part of their unique story 🌟

So lovely to see the children having their first experiences of a fire at our community nursery. As skills and confidence grow, they will spend more time outside in the garden and also our The Collective Garden, learning how to grow their own fruit and vegetables, and take care of nature. This is just a small part of what it means to be a community nursery..

And if the children would like more "Richard time" the Collective Garden is open Tuesday mornings 10-1 and alternate weekend days. This weekend we are open Sunday 4 October 10-1, and then on Saturday 10 October we are open 10-1 with our apple and chutney event happening 11-12.30 (https://eequ.org/book/apple-and-tomato-chutney-workshop-with-bexhill-family-collective-cic-35061 to book)

We cannot wait to see what further adventures our Dragonflies have!
