Today at Thursday Lunch Club at Bentham Golf Club we had a talk with Steve Rathborne from Ingleton whom also helps out driving the mini bus for us on a Wednesday at the CLC.
Steve spoke about his life as a Vicar and visits with the Duke of Edingburgh. We all throughly enjoyed this and it brightened up this miserable rainy day.Next week we have Sally Horn Keeping us Mobile

A message for clarification
On Page 39 of the June Bentham News, there’s an article from St John’s Parish Church. At the bottom, it mentions Thursday Lunch Club meeting at the Black Bull on 11th June. Please note, it’s St John’s Thursday Lunch Club and not the Age Concern Thursday Lunch Club who meet at the Golf Club every week.

Crazy weather today ⛈️⛈️🌞🌞
The Thursday Lunch Club convened at the Bentham Golf Club after the thundery start this morning. We all enjoyed tea, coffee and biscuits and puzzling over the wordsearches and crosswords before lunch was served. The pork steaks were very much enjoyed in particular. Afterwards we enjoyed two games of bingo with the Dodgy Bingo Caller (yours truly) with big star prizes for a line and full house! 😂😂😂😂. A lovely lunch had by all and we will meet again next Thursday for a talk by Steve Wrathbourne.

At the Community Link Cafe today we’ve had home roast ham salad with baby roasted potatoes followed by Victoria sandwich with fresh strawberries. 🍓

The Thursday Lunch Club gathered again at the Bentham Golf Club for their weekly lunch and catch up with friends. After a splendid lunch from Mandy, two River Rangers from United Utilities spoke about the work they do in the South Lakes. Katie and Don spend their days checking the rivers and waterways, building leaky dams, checking on the ecology, engaging with the public amongst many other activities. It was very interesting and later they engaged with members who had questions. Thank you Katie and Don!
Next week, we will be testing the old brain boxes with a quiz!

At the Community Link Cafe today we have been on a trip to Banny’s fish and chip Restaurant in Colne, it was funded through Skipton Step into Action. Everyone enjoyed fish and chips or cheese and onion pie followed by sticky toffee pudding or ice cream. Rowena’s granddaughter joined us for lunch.
Thanks so much to KT Coaches and Wes our lovely driver for getting us there safely.
Thanks to Banny’s for making us welcome and the delicious food.
Thanks so much to all our volunteers who joined us, we couldn’t do what we do without you…. you’re all amazing.
