JAQintheBox Theatre JAQ-in-the-Box Theatre is a theatre company based in Belfast and producing work all over the show! And who knows?

JAQ-in-the-Box Theatre is a "pop-up" theatre company based in Belfast and was co-founded by theatre-makers Julie Kinsella and Maria Quinn. Their aim is to produce fresh, bold and...hopefully, excellent theatre experiences! Our pop-up duo might pop up at a theatre...or a ditch...or a shopping market...or anywhere really... near you!

We're beginning to come down from the high that was The Bench tour, and our first official "JAQ-in-the-Box Production".
We have had an absolute ball bringing our wee Bench to a theatre near you.
We want to thank a few people for their support and kindness. A massive GRMA to for letting us into their home so we could trash the place. Thank you to in Cushendun for allowing us to use the space and for supplying a stunning beach for our lunch time danders. To Steve - the best unverified yoga instructor- thank you for your time and your gorgeous voice! .shaww - you absolute legend! Thank you for kindly offering your time and your expertise to our social media "campaign". We appreciate you so much! You were our wee Cheer leader!

We finally made it to The Grand Opera House Studio...
We've went a bit quiet on the oul socials due to ... laziness brought on by being pure wrecked, as we reach the final leg of our tour..
We have three shows left for The Grand Opera House, Belfast Studio ... if you can make it tonight, there are a couple of tickets left but the rest of the performances are sold out... which is bloomin' lovely to say

A 60-minute, fast-paced and imaginative show (14+), The Bench brings to life a vibrant cast of characters — all played by two performers — whose stories unfold over one sunny afternoon.

Written and performed by Julie Kinsella and Maria Quinn, this witty and heartwarming piece explores friendship, love, loss, nature… and the wonderfully unexpected moments that connect us all.

One bench. Seven stories. A whole host of characters. The Bench is a lively and imaginative 60-minute production (14+) written and performed by Julie Kinsella and Maria Quinn.

Across one sunny afternoon, the duo bring to life 14 wonderfully quirky characters, revealing moments of friendship, love, loss and the absurd. With minimal set, clever costume changes and an evocative soundscape, this inventive show proves that less really is more.

Originally staged as the acclaimed outdoor piece Benches at the EastSide Arts Festival and on tour along the Causeway Coast, it delighted audiences with its warmth, humour and authenticity. A funny, heartfelt and engaging theatre experience celebrating everyday lives in unexpected ways.
