JAQ-in-the-Box Theatre is a "pop-up" theatre company based in Belfast and was co-founded by theatre-makers Julie Kinsella and Maria Quinn. You’ve heard of Bingo Loco? Forget it! This is BINGO BONANZA! An evening of laughs and crazy fun for everyone from 9 to 90! (But if you’re over 90 you get in for free!)

This is no ordinary evening of Bingo!
A BINGO BONANZA! night is a party night so expect great music, dodgy dancing, balloons, tiny explosions (OK, party poppers) and some Oscar-worthy performances from your hosts and your players!

Our Comedy Quiz Nights will tickle your funny bone and your brain cells with quirky questions, some dodgy acting and a nod or two to general knowledge, films, sport ... you know, the usual stuff of quizzing! FABULOUS!

Guests are welcomed to a glittering
occasion hosted by our larger-than-life
characters. As they settle down to enjoy
an evening’s entertainment it becomes
clear that all is not as it should be. Old
rivalries, love trysts, jealousy and greed
are in the air.
Then a murder is committed in full view
… full view!!! The gall of this wicked
killer! But who is the perpetrator? Your
guests will play detective to work
out the motive for the murder and who
committed this heinous...

We're beginning to come down from the high that was The Bench tour, and our first official "JAQ-in-the-Box Production".
We have had an absolute ball bringing our wee Bench to a theatre near you.
We want to thank a few people for their support and kindness. A massive GRMA to for letting us into their home so we could trash the place. Thank you to in Cushendun for allowing us to use the space and for supplying a stunning beach for our lunch time danders. To Steve - the best unverified yoga instructor- thank you for your time and your gorgeous voice! .shaww - you absolute legend! Thank you for kindly offering your time and your expertise to our social media "campaign". We appreciate you so much! You were our wee Cheer leader!

We've went a bit quiet on the oul socials due to ... laziness brought on by being pure wrecked, as we reach the final leg of our tour..
We have three shows left for The Grand Opera House, Belfast Studio ... if you can make it tonight, there are a couple of tickets left but the rest of the performances are sold out... which is bloomin' lovely to say

One bench. Seven stories. A whole host of characters. The Bench is a lively and imaginative 60-minute production (14+) written and performed by Julie Kinsella and Maria Quinn.

Across one sunny afternoon, the duo bring to life 14 wonderfully quirky characters, revealing moments of friendship, love, loss and the absurd. With minimal set, clever costume changes and an evocative soundscape, this inventive show proves that less really is more.

Originally staged as the acclaimed outdoor piece Benches at the EastSide Arts Festival and on tour along the Causeway Coast, it delighted audiences with its warmth, humour and authenticity. A funny, heartfelt and engaging theatre experience celebrating everyday lives in unexpected ways.
