We were incredibly honoured to be nominated. It meant so much to have Alex’s story recognised, and we’re genuinely grateful to everyone who has supported her journey along the way.

Of course, not being selected as a finalist can feel disappointing in the moment. But when we take a step back, we’re reminded that there are far bigger victories worth celebrating.

Here’s one of them.

On 29th June, we hand Alex’s Kaye Walker back to the physio department. She’s not walking completely independently just yet, but she no longer needs it for support. What we thought would be her trusty sidekick for years to come has become another reminder that Alex continues to exceed every expectation and prove us wrong in the most wonderful ways.

This milestone puts everything into perspective. It reminds us what our goals really are and how worthy they are to celebrate!

And celebrate we will.

Alex, you make everything you touch brighter. Your courage, determination and resilience inspire us every single day. You have an incredible way of bringing us back to what matters most, and we cannot thank you enough for that.

This is your win sweet girl. And we couldn’t be prouder.

It’s always the taking part that counts and that’s especially true for this. All nominations were done out of love and all nominees deserve the recognition from these amazing awards.

On the eve of the new appointment, we just wanted to send the biggest thank you, congratulations, and so much love to our outgoing Mayor, Cllr Gillian McCollum.

Over the last year, we’ve had the absolute pleasure of meeting Gillian at several events and seeing first-hand the incredible heart, passion, and dedication she pours into everything she does for our borough. Honestly, we don’t know how she does it—she never seems to stop!

What has stood out most is not just the countless hours she gives, but the kindness, warmth, and genuine care she shows to everyone she meets. Time and time again, we’ve seen her go above and beyond to make sure people are heard, supported, and treated with the respect they deserve. Nothing ever seems too much trouble, especially when it comes to helping those who need it most.

Gillian has a wonderful way of making people feel valued, and her commitment to our community has made a real difference to so many lives. We feel incredibly lucky to have seen that up close.

While we know her dedication and hard work won’t suddenly stop now that her year as Mayor has come to an end, we really do hope she gets the chance to take a well-deserved break and spend some time with her beautiful family and friends.

Gillian, you are truly one of a kind. Thank you for your kindness, your tireless efforts, and for giving so much of yourself to our borough. We hope you can see just how much you are appreciated and just how many people you’ve inspired and helped along the way.

This October, in honour of Baby Loss Awareness Week, & working with an incredible Mum who has advocated for this cause after the loss of her beautiful daughter, Cara, 18 Years ago today, we will be bringing our community together for a very special Strictly-style fundraising event. 🩷🩵

This event is about so much more than dancing.

It’s about remembering babies gone too soon. It’s about supporting families who carry loss every single day. It’s about raising vital funds for the local services that provide comfort, guidance and care during the darkest moments imaginable.

But most importantly, it’s about breaking the silence.

Baby loss affects so many families, yet so often it remains a taboo subject — hidden behind closed doors and suffered in silence. We want to help create strength, hope and connection within our community, because no one should ever feel alone in their grief.

Whether you have personally experienced loss, supported someone through it, or simply want to help raise awareness and funds for an important cause, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for our dancers! But also our sponsors and local businesses to help make this event truly unforgettable. From hairdressers to local dance schools and everyone in between.

Healing takes a community — and we need you. 💫

Good luck to everyone taking part in the Belfast City Marathon today!

Sending an extra special boost of luck and lots of love to Isaac, Cameron, their relay team, and Michael McCav 🩷 You’re all running to raise money for Little Heroes NI. They choose this charity because they know of Alex’s story, which makes it even more incredible.
