ZAMBIA and Al Mansour Holding LLC of Qatar have signed a binding ex*****on agreement aimed at building about 1.5 million affordable housing units, boosting Zambia's key economic sectors, including tourism and energy.

Other areas of engagement include education, agriculture and supply of fuel. This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and issuance of a joint statement between the two parties on Monday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mulambo Haimbe signed on behalf of the Zambian government, while Al Mansour Holding LLC chairman Nidal Ammache signed on behalf of the company.

Mr Haimbe described the partnership as a significant step toward improving the welfare of Zambian citizens and advancing national development.

β€œOur foreign policy on economic development is now entering the implementation phase,” said Mr Haimbe.

β€œAs the MoU moves into the feasibility stage, many opportunities will open up for the people of Zambia.”

He added that the public will soon begin to see tangible outcomes from the agreement.

Also present to witness the signing ceremony was Sheikh Mansour Bin Jabor Jassim Al Thani, a member of the Qatari royal family and chairman of the Al Mansour Group of Qatar.
