At Adopt NI, we are committed to fostering growth, connection, and emotional wellbeing through our services. Recently, we invited our clients to reflect on how their experience with us has influenced their self-confidence, relationships, and emotional resilience.

The responses have been deeply encouraging. Many clients reported a significant improvement in their emotional wellbeing. Additionally, the majority expressed feeling more connected to others who share similar experiences.

These insights reaffirm the importance of our mission to encourage empowerment and provide a supportive environment.

Client Feedback: Meaningful Progress in Our Work

We asked our community: “What has been the most valuable part of Adopt NI for you?”

One respondent shared this reflection:

"It is not a siloed approach. It meets the full human being where they are, and goes from there. Much of the secondary harm I've experienced has been due to too limited or "task based" interventions, or organisations more interested in service user numbers, whether their services are appropriate and wide spread enough or not. There is too much tinkering around the edges of the profound matters afflicting adoption-affected people.”

This feedback reminds us why our holistic, person-centered approach matters. Every person deserves support that sees them.

Client Feedback: Meaningful Progress in Our Work

Our recent survey revealed strongly positive outcomes across all four key areas we measured:

🔹 Identity
🔹 Social Isolation
🔹 Empowerment
🔹 Emotional Wellbeing

One standout result:
41.4% of respondents reported a deeper understanding of their identity after participating in AdoptNI services.

A Client’s Perspective:

“Connecting with other adopted adults has been transformative. Hearing their experiences helped me recognise my own feelings—both past and present—as valid. For the first time, I felt understood. Many people who aren’t adopted simply don’t grasp the weight we carry.”

A significant step forward has been taken this past Tuesday, 30th June 2026, for survivors and victims of Mother & Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries, and Workhouses in Northern Ireland. The legislation to establish an Inquiry and Redress Scheme has successfully passed its final stage in the NI Assembly.
This milestone paves the way for a public inquiry and the implementation of a redress scheme, offering hope for justice and recognition.

On Tuesday, 7th July 2026, the Truth Recovery Independent Panel Report will be officially launched and published. We understand that this report may bring up difficult emotions, and we encourage everyone to engage with it in their own time.

If this topic affects you or someone you know, please remember that support is available. Adopt NI is here to help anyone who may be impacted.
