I have been thinking about Baruch the scribe, who wrote out the words of God to Jeremiah the prophet. Many have been experiencing troubled times in the Earth and God may want to encourage some of you, as He did Baruch, that HE HAS’NT FORGOTTEN YOU. (This is a repost of a previous word, hope it helps someone. Amen)
2 ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch: 3 You said, “Woe to me! The Lord has added sorrow to my pain; I am worn out with groaning and find no rest.” Jeremiah 45
Jeremiah and Baruch the Scribe lived in tumultuous times; Judah had been taken into exile in Babylon. A remnant of Jews had sought Jeremiah as to whether they should go down to live in Egypt, (A type of ‘the World’ for us), which God had forbidden Israel to do. The prophet sought the Lord for them and after ten days God spoke to him to tell the people not to return to Egypt, but once again they were disobedient. THEY WENT DOWN TO EGYPT and Jeremiah went or was taken with them. The Hebrew word ‘Aliyah’ talks about COMING UP to Jerusalem but DOWN TO Egypt - the World System, Take Note!
Baruch felt that his life was very difficult and it had been, he lived through a siege by the Babylonians and saw the land and the people decimated. However, in the midst of all this Baruch seems to have held onto personal ambition, because God scolded him with a personal word from Jeremiah.
4 The Lord said, “This is what the Lord says: I will overthrow what I have built and uproot what I have planted, throughout the earth. 5 Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. … but WHEREVER YOU GO I WILL LET YOU ESCAPE WITH YOUR LIFE.”’ Jeremiah 45
In the midst of God’s severe judgment upon the land of Judah, God warned Baruch not to look for personal gain, but He did bless Baruch by promising to spare his life, wherever he went.
("Baruch" is a Hebrew word meaning "blessed" or "fortunate".
In modern Hebrew, "Baruch Hashem" (בָּרוּךְ הַשֵּׁם) is a common expression meaning "Blessed be G_d," used to express gratitude.)
This world has come through great turmoil and in many places people still suffer because of wickedness, but throughout it all, OUR GOD AND FATHER STILL SEES AND KNOWS OUR INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCES. He promised safekeeping to this scribe who worked with Jeremiah, many others around him would perish, but God gave Baruch HIS LIFE. How important to have God’s hand of protection and guidance on our lives in these troubled days.
May the Lord bless and keep you today. Immanuel, God is with us.
