Day 100!!! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰πŸ‘ SUDEP Action: Making every epilepsy death count 500km in 100 days challenge in memory of Marian πŸ’œ

Well folks this is it! The challenge has been completed! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Over 500km in 100 days! My aim was to raise awareness of Sudep and to raise funds for the UKs leading Sudep Awareness charity, Sudep Action in memory of my beautiful wee sister Marian who passed away as the result of an epileptic seizure in July 2021.

The loss of her has left a hole in my heart and my life that will never be filled. But thankfully I'm surrounded by my wonderful family, my beautiful daughters, my fantastic supportive husband and my amazing siblings. Together we've gotten each other through the bereavement. ❀️

It also inspired me to take on some fundraising challenges in her memory πŸ’œ

I began this challenge on 26th March which is Epilepsy Awareness Day. My reason for doing so was to raise more awareness of Sudep.

I can very proudly say that having finished my challenge today we have raised a fantastic amount of Β£1,027 plus Gift Aid for this wonderful charity!!

Thank you to my cousin Aine Dickey for her recent donation and to everyone who has donated so far I honestly can't thank you all enough! πŸ‘

Through doing this i have realised that I'm educating myself as well as others. I have learned so much about what can trigger seizures, what factors can influence the risk of Sudep, the amount of work and research that this charity does to support and campaign for the rights of people with epilepsy.

Im in awe of the level of commitment they have to be a voice for people with epilepsy. And it has been privilege to raise awareness and funds on their behalf in memory of our beautiful wee Marian πŸ’œ

Although its been tough at times i can honestly say i have loved doing this challenge! I've been very lucky that I haven't had any injuries thanks to some great advice from fellow runners πŸ‘ ive made sure to stretch well after every run it's stood me in good stead! πŸ’ͺ and I can highly recommend to anyone get yourself outdoors for a walk or a run regularly it's so good for your mental health

I've been so overwhelmed by the fact that this page has reached people all over the world who have epilepsy or have lost someone to epilepsy people who have reached out to me who have been through similar experiences πŸ’”

I would just like to thank everyone for their support during this challenge. Those who have donated or simply liked and followed my posts it means so much! πŸ™πŸ’œ

And lastly but certainly not least a massive thanks to family and friends who turned out today during my final run! With a special thank you to Gary for the effort he put into creating a beautiful finish line for me at the Falls Park today! Even the weather played ball with the sun coming out in between the showers for a wee while ! πŸŒžπŸ’œπŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰

There is still time to donate until 7th July if you'd like to please do so via the link below

Day 99 SUDEP Action: Making every epilepsy death count 500km in 100 days challenge in memory of Marian πŸ’œ

Can't believe it's the penultimate day of my challenge! πŸ‘ It has absolutely flown by

Another 5k run ticked off βœ…οΈ only 1 more to go!

Today I ended up having a wee adventure on my run haha πŸ˜„ I decided to do the parkrun route at Colin Glen forest Park i didn't even get half way through when i remembered the gates were going to close in 5 mins! 😨 I ran up towards the exit to poleglass and not knowing my way about up there had no idea which path to take to get back onto the Stewartstown Road πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ asked someone who sent me off the wrong way so wasted a bit of time running about having no idea where I was lol but a quick phonecall to my wee Alana she has a great head for directions saved the day and she directed me back down unto the main road, sure now I'll know for next time!

Anyway we had a lovely family meal last night at Goodfellas pizza , good food and a great catch up with each other with plenty of reminiscing about our wee Marian πŸ’” πŸ’œπŸ’ͺ

I'd just like to say a big thank you to my beautiful Becca for her donation, we have now reached an amazing amount of Β£1,010 for such a very worthy charity. πŸ‘

As always thanks everyone for all your support, donations likes and comments it means alot πŸ™
