We're pleased to announce the launch of the Ulster Youth CX Summer Series.

Following the success of the evenings hosted by Island Wheelers, Square Wheels and Omagh Wheelers in 2025, we're building on that momentum with an even bigger programme of youth-focused cyclocross events this summer.

The series has been designed to introduce more young riders to cyclocross through fun, accessible and welcoming events in a safe off-road environment.

Whether riders are completely new to CX or already enjoy racing, the series provides the perfect opportunity to develop skills, build confidence, make new friends and enjoy being active on the bike.

A huge thank you goes to all of the host clubs and their volunteers who have stepped forward to make this series possible.
Their commitment and enthusiasm are creating valuable opportunities for young cyclists across the province.

Check out the graphic below for all rounds and venues. Entries will be opening soon, so keep an eye on our channels for further details.

**BCBC Race Report – National Series Round 3**

Another fantastic day of BMX racing as the National Series continued with Round 3 at ar ather damp Ratoath BMX track, Co. Meath and once again our BCBC riders gave a great account of themselves on track.

Leading the way were two familiar faces on the podium:

πŸ₯‡ **Tommy Caldwell** continued his outstanding start to the season, taking **1st place in Male 13-14** with another dominant performance.

πŸ₯‡ **Nathan Murray** was equally impressive, claiming **1st place in Male 9-10** and showing the speed and consistency that has made him one to watch this season.

πŸ₯ˆ A special mention goes to **David Oprey Mejia**, who battled hard all day to secure **2nd place in the merged Male 15-29 category**, continuing his strong run of results this year.

One of the standout performances of the day came from **Casper McKeown**. Finishing **5th in Male 11-12**, Casper was in the mix all day, riding aggressively and showing real determination. He is knocking loudly on the door of a podium finish and, if his progress continues at this rate, it surely won't be long before he's standing on the box. πŸ‘ Keep an eye on this young rider!

**David Dunn** also deserves recognition for another determined day's racing. David continues to work hard and improve with every outing.

There were strong performances throughout the squad from:

* **Emily McClintock** – 4th in Female 11-14
* **Jacob Jamison** – 5th in Male 13-14
* **Corey MacAskill** – 2nd in the B Final
* **Elijah McClintock** – 3rd in the B Final
* **Alfie Templeton** – 5th in the B Final
* **Treasa McConnell** – 3rd in the B Final

Unfortunately, **Ashton Stewart** was unable to start his races due to a fall in practice but we look forward to seeing him back in action at the next round.

As always, the results only tell part of the story. The effort, sportsmanship and support shown by all our riders and families throughout the day made the club proud. The season is gathering momentum, friendships are being renewed around the track, and the racing is getting faster every week.

Congratulations to all our riders, parents, coaches and supporters and many thanks to all the volunteers for an excellent event. Onwards to Round 4! πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

While many of our riders were competing in the Irish National Series, several BCBC members were also flying the club colours across the water at Scottish Regional BMX Series.

It's fantastic to see BCBC represented and competing successfully on both sides of the Irish Sea. Whether racing in Ireland or Scotland, our riders continue to challenge themselves, gain experience and proudly represent the club.

The weekend wasn't just successful in Ireland. Across the water at the Scottish Regional BMX Series, BCBC riders also enjoyed fantastic results, with Eric Kincaid and Amelia Martin both taking victory in their respective categories, while India Bennett secured an excellent 3rd place finish.

It's great to see BCBC riders making their mark wherever they race.

Awful news, our thoughts go out to Marcus and his family. We hope the BMX community can join together and donate whatever you can to help at this difficult time ❀️

This is Marcus Bell from Northern Ireland who was a well known Irish Bmx rider in the Irish Bmx Community

A devastating accident changed everything for Marcus. He is now facing life with paralysis, long hospital stays, rehabilitation, and enormous challenges no one his age should have to endure.

Right now, he and his family need support more than ever. Every donation β€” no matter the amount β€” can help with medical care, rehabilitation, equipment, and adapting to a completely new way of life❀️

If you can, please donate and share this fundraiser to help lighten the burden and remind him he’s not facing this alone ❀️

Busy Weekend of Racing for BCBC!

It was a fantastic weekend of racing for Bangor City Bike Club, with riders competing across events in Scotland and Ireland.

🏁 Scottish Regional Cumbernauld, Scotland (23rd & 24th)

We had three riders representing the club at the Scottish Regional, all putting in superb performances across both days of racing.

πŸ† Eric Kincaid was in outstanding form, taking four straight wins across Saturday and Sunday to secure top spot on the podium!

πŸ₯‰ Amelia Martin and πŸ₯‰ India Bennett both rode consistently and competitively, finishing third on both days just missing out on a podium finish, a great achievement at regional level.

🏁 Club Racing Lucan BMX Club, Dublin (24th)

Meanwhile, at Lucan BMX Club, David Opray had a dominant day on the track, taking four first-place finishes to claim the overall club race win! πŸ†

πŸ₯‰ Casper McKeown also put in a strong performance, finishing 4th overall and just missing out on a podium at the same event.

A massive well done to all our riders for representing BCBC so proudly, fantastic results all round! πŸ’ͺ

Some wise words from Ian Brookes...

People think BMX is teaching kids how to ride fast.
No it’s not.
It’s teaching them how to handle pressure that most adults still can’t handle.
Imagine being 8, 12 or even 15 years old and lining up shoulder to shoulder with another 8 kids on the gate or over 30 in your category knowing only one of you will get the holeshot.
Knowing everybody is watching you..
Knowing one mistake will cost you a race win.
Knowing fear is sitting in your chest while your heart is pounding through your race kit.
And then the gate drops !!
That moment changes kids.
Racing teaches them how to perform while nervous.
How to believe in themselves after bad weekends.
How to crash, get up, and line back up again.
How to stay humble when they win and accountable when they don’t.
That’s why BMX families are different.
Because we are not just raising racers.
We are raising mentally tough kids in a world that keeps getting softer.
And honestly that is bigger than trophies.
