Recently stumbled across these lovely images from 2003 of a PZL M28 Skytruck of the Polish Navy. Wearing a heritage scheme in honour of Polish 304 Sqdn RAF Coastal Command during 1943. 304 flew Wellingtons on convoy protection and U Boat hunting missions during the Battle of the Atlantic.

Book review....
Great little book, covering the Polish airforce from 1939 to 1945, including Pzls and P47s as well as the more well known Spits, Mustangs and Hurricanes. Out of print but can be found on Ebay for around £5. Well worth it.

A never before seen photo of troops from the 1st Armoured Division with a captured German truck & torpedo during the battle of the Falaise pocket August 1944.

Also a great insight into German camoflage of the period.

Visited the Polish D-Day exhibition at the D-Day Story museum in Portsmouth today. Organised by 307 Squadron Project it was superb to see the recognition at long last the Polish Forces on D-Day deserve.

Huge congratulations to 307 Squadron Project and Michael Parrott for a job well done.

Shame same can't be said for the museum itself. £32 to visit a tiny display that took 20 mins to read everything. Disappointing to see many errors and generalisations in the texts. Tiny mention in passing to the Polish forces. Poor effort. Spend your money on a good book instead.

A quick visit to Lepe Beach this morning. Scene of the construction of many parts of the Mulberry Harbour plus the embarkation point of thousands of British troops from 4th June onwards. Lots of D-Day structures still visible today.

We've been sent details of a fascinating exhibition at the D-Day Story museum in Portsmouth.

Saturday 15th June & Sunday 16th June discover the 'Polish D-Day Story' and learn how Poland’s navy, army and air force helped ensure that D-Day and the allied invasion of mainland Europe was a success 80 years ago.
There will be an fascinating programme of activities including an exhibition in both English and Polish, wartime links between Poland and Portsmouth, the story of an amazing Polish spy codenamed Brutus, archive footage, amazing films and lots more.

If you only buy one book about D-Day in this 80th anniversary year. It has to be this one. After a glut of cobbled together, plaigiarised trash, this masterpiece is a breath of fresh air. In fact quite possibly best researched and well written history of the invasion. Certainly the best ever that focusses on the British forces. Lavishly illustrated throughout with maps, aerial recon photos and previously unseen photos, it will undoubtly highlight an often overlooked aspect of the 6th June and beyond. At last the British forces gain the recognition they deserve.
