Lots of people have asked what is happening at the old pub and now the plans are live online. We had heard rumours last year it would be homeless/migrants awaiting status (not ones that have came legally to work, study etc) accommodations we have NOT had confirmation of this however it has been confirmed planning permission is in to turn it into 14 roomed multiple occupancy, for whome we don't know.
I have copied the info from Councilor Meek below we don't have any other info so if this is something you have any queries/worries about you will NEED to contact your housing officer, the council and/or local councilors, there next surgeries are not for awhile August i beleive so I have also posted their contact info

Good Afternoon just to advise I was reviewing the weekly planning list and see that the Heather Inn is on it for change of use, extension and alterations to former public house to form a 14 room house in multiple occupation. I see that the plans are live on the planning portal.Looks like they went live on 10th June THAT LEAVES 16 DAYS TO LODGE COMPLAINTS

Can I please implore residents when objections are made not to make any reference to the site being used for homeless / migrants - this wont reflect well on us as a village, and WILL NOT BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT!! ALL arguments should be based on the local infrastructure being limited, the over development of such a small site and the mplications this will pose on traffic / parking etc... highlighting also the extremely limited resources we have within the village as it stands ie there is only one take out - not even a shop, barely any public transport, no post office, pharmacy, doctor etc Its these matters that will stand out and have VALIDITY them. The angle of miarants/homeless will NOT be taken into consideration by the planning department

If you normally go from Longridge to Whitburn or vice versa via the Hilcroft/Blaeberry hill Road, please avoid, something is seriously going down there and you can’t get up or down.

There are loads of police there plus an ambulance and what looks like riot police.

Lots of bystanders taking videos and photos by the look or it.

The traffic coming down Longridge Road towards the cross is really busy as drivers will be getting turned around but not until you’re almost at the Hilcroft..

Due to high demand for the 1st gaming van date we booked an extra date of Friday 19th June however we have only had 1 confirmed booking so far and unfortunately we cannot run an event with such low numbers and it is at risk of being cancelled 😔

Please join me in saying a belated but still very HAPPY AND WELL EARNED RETIREMENT to Mary Cook/ Dougall who's been working since she was 16!
62 years work.
Mary has had a wide variety of work since then as well as raising her family she's been a Nurse, kept all our feet comfy when she worked in a shoe shop and fed when she worked at the Co-Op, the kids happy when she was at the toy shop in Freeport, she's made contact lenses and looked after fine Crystal at Spieglou and most recently at Morrisons !
I'm exhausted writing that never mind doing it all! Well done Mary we hope you enjoy your well earned rest 👏 🎉
