Mentoring Plus supports young people in Bath & NE Somerset who are facing challenges. We help 5-25 year olds feel connected through award-winning mentoring schemes, youth clubs and inspiring activities programmes in our community.

Meet our new mentors 👋

Earlier this month, 17 volunteers gathered at our Riverside Youth Hub in Bath for mentor skills training.

Some will become one-to-one mentors, meeting their mentee weekly for up to a year to listen, chat and have fun. Others will support our new weekly activity group for boys and young people who identify as male, aged 11-14.

We loved meeting everyone and are so grateful they’re giving their time, kindness and skills to local young people.

What matters most to our young people is that their mentor is there for them by choice, which is why we need volunteers all year round.

This World Mental Health Day, we want to thank our incredible volunteers for helping young people feel truly seen and understood.

Young people know you're there by choice. That you'll listen without judgement, and won't try to fix or problem solve.

Your time and kindness give young people the chance to talk about anything on their mind, even when life is really tough.

And as World Mental Health Day is about listening to one another and sharing our experiences of mental health, we want to say thank you for giving young people the space they need to talk.

Last week, we hosted a special evening at Newark Works Bath for our volunteer mentors.

Over drinks and nibbles, our trustees, staff and special guests gathered alongside 30 of our volunteers, and it felt like the perfect way to celebrate the difference they make to more than 100 young people in Bath & North East Somerset every year.

A highlight was hearing from our trustee and former mentee, Ciranne, who, alongside her mentor Nicola, shared what mentoring meant to her as a teenager, and the difference it still makes to her today.

As there are so many highlights from the night, we'll be sharing more about what was shared in the coming weeks. Watch this space!

For now, we'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to our volunteers for the incredible gift of time, care and encouragement they give young people.

Just 24 hours left to support this year's Big BaNES 100k!

Since May, our intrepid challengers have been walking, cycling, swimming and fundraising for our charity and Off the Record Bath & NES raising more than £2,000 🥳

Just a little reminder of how 1-2 hours a week with a volunteer mentor can be life-changing for a young person.

If you can help us give more young people a full year of weekly mentoring, here are two ways you can get involved:

- Volunteer with us: 1-2 hours a week in BaNES, at a time and location that works for you.

- Become a Friend: every monthly gift made before March next year will be doubled, thanks to HandSpark Charitable Trust.

📣PLEASE SHARE! New Boys' Group launching in November in Bath!

Thanks to the generous support of a local donor, we're launching a new and FREE boys' group in November for boys and those who identify as male, aged 11-14 here in Bath.

Where? Riverside Youth Hub (near Morrisons, London Road),

When? Tuesdays (term time only) 5:30pm-7:30pm

What? Activities, a shared meal, support from kind volunteers and our youth group leader Jim from Boys In Mind.

Why? Because we want to offer a space for boys to connect, have fun and develop valuable skills

TOMORROW EVENING! Join the The Bath 5k Map sunset crew for a community walk in Bath.

This is a lovely opportunity to get outside, meet new people and support the challenge, which is raising funds for our charity and Off the Record Bath & NES 💙💚

The walk will start at Claverton Down and head to Monkton Combe, setting off at 6pm.

Everyone welcome, including four legged friends 🐶

No need to book, but a donation would be gratefully received.

Every pound will help both our charities support young people with their mental health.

Don't let the rain put you off…

Because the weather actually looks great for the final Big BaNES 100k community walk on Tuesday 15 September at 6pm.

Organised and led by Annie Legge and The Bath 5k Map crew, this 5km circular and social walk will start at Claverton Down and head down into Monkton Combe.

If you're looking to stretch your legs, meet some new people, or clock up another few kilometres for your Big BaNES 100k, please join us!

No need to book a ticket, but a donation to Annie's Sunset Walks page would be gratefully received. All donations will support our charity and Off the Record Bath & NES 💙💚
