Volunteer
There are many ways you can kick-start your adventure, as a young person, parent or adult volunteer. Our volunteers get involved on their terms and not all roles involve working with young people. If you can give a little time (or a lot) to help improve young lives in your community, we’d love to hear from you!

‘Scouting is a character factory.’ Not our words, but those of our lead volunteer, chief scout Bear Grylls. Are you ready to inspire a generation of young people to experience fun, friendship and real adventure? The opportunities to volunteer with us are flexible. Think of something you’d like to do and chances are it’s just what we require.

A huge congratulations to Corey on being presented with the Senior Patrol Leader badge!

This is a fantastic achievement and a real reflection of your leadership, commitment, and the example you set for others in the unit. The role of Senior Patrol Leader carries real responsibility, and you’ve clearly earned the trust and respect of all the Scouts and leaders.

We’re incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved so far and can’t wait to see how you continue to grow in this role. Well done and keep up the great work!

Huge well done to our Scouts who attended their very first sailing session at Felixstowe Ferry Youth Sailing yesterday! ⛵

They showed fantastic enthusiasm, teamwork, and courage out on the water. A brilliant start to what we hope will be many more adventures to come.

What do you get when you mix Sea Scouts, a fleet of keel boats, and a lot of questionable cleaning techniques? Last night’s answer: organised chaos and boats that are almost ready to hit the water!

In their patrols, the Scouts chose their keel boats (Kingfisher, Otter and Raven) and rolled up their sleeves to start cleaning and preparing them for the upcoming sessions on the water.

We’re looking forward to seeing these boats back where they belong very soon ⛵️🌊

Tonight our Sea Scouts got stuck into charts and nautical terminology.

Working through a set of questions, they learned how to use pilot books, charts, plotters and dividers to find their answers (hopefully we won’t have to explain what RIB stands for again!)
