πŸŽ“πŸ‘ Leading Classification Achieved! πŸ‘πŸŽ“
A huge congratulations to Cadet Lindsey, who has successfully completed her Leading Classification Award and can now proudly wear her new classification badge on her uniform! πŸ‘
The Leading Classification is an important milestone within the RAF Air Cadets progression syllabus and requires cadets to expand their knowledge across a variety of subjects including aviation studies, space, radio communications, leadership and airmanship. Achieving this qualification takes commitment, focus and a willingness to continually learn and develop.
Classification training is a core part of cadet life and helps young people build confidence, knowledge and valuable transferable skills while progressing through the organisation. Every badge earned represents hard work, dedication and personal achievement, and it’s always fantastic to see cadets continuing to push themselves forward.
Cadet Lindsey should be incredibly proud of this accomplishment and the effort that has gone into achieving it. We’re looking forward to seeing what the next stage of her cadet journey brings! πŸ”₯
The RAF Air Cadets offers opportunities in aviation, leadership, music, sport, fieldcraft, cyber, shooting, first aid and so much more β€” giving young people the chance to develop skills and experiences that will stay with them for life.

πŸŽ—οΈπŸ‘ Another Step Towards the MOI Lanyard! πŸ‘πŸŽ—οΈ
A huge congratulations to Cpl Philips, who has recently completed her Method of Instruction (MOI) training! πŸ‘
The MOI course is an important part of developing cadet leadership and instructional skills within the RAF Air Cadets. It teaches cadets how to confidently plan, structure and deliver engaging lessons and presentations β€” helping them grow as communicators, leaders and role models on squadron.
Completing the initial training is a fantastic achievement in itself, but the journey doesn’t stop there. The next challenge will see Cpl Philips working towards completing the two assessed presentations required to achieve the ultimate goal β€” earning the prestigious yellow MOI lanyard. πŸŽ—οΈ
Standing in front of others and delivering lessons takes confidence, preparation and professionalism, and these are exactly the types of transferable life skills that cadets continue to develop through opportunities like this. Whether it’s leadership, communication, teamwork or confidence building, the RAF Air Cadets provides experiences that help young people thrive both inside and outside of cadet life.
We’re looking forward to seeing Cpl Philips continue progressing and wish her the very best of luck with the assessed presentations ahead! πŸ”₯

πŸš€πŸŒŒ Reaching for the Stars! πŸŒŒπŸš€
A huge congratulations to Cadets Gosh, Williams K, Suffield, Lindsey, Davies, Hassan, Suffield and Goghlan, who have recently achieved their Blue Space Badges! πŸ‘
The RAF Air Cadets Space syllabus introduces cadets to the exciting world of space, satellites, rocketry, planetary science and the future of space exploration. Through their studies, cadets gain a greater understanding of how space technology impacts everyday life and how the aerospace sector continues to evolve at an incredible pace.
Achieving the Blue Space Badge is a fantastic accomplishment and reflects the hard work, curiosity and enthusiasm these cadets have shown while exploring one of the fastest-growing areas within STEM and aviation. πŸŒπŸ›°οΈ
Space is becoming an increasingly important part of the RAF and wider defence sector, and opportunities like these help inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, aviators and innovators. It’s fantastic to see so many of our cadets embracing the challenge and expanding their knowledge beyond the classroom.
Well done to everyone involved β€” we look forward to seeing where your cadet journey takes you next! πŸš€πŸ”₯

πŸƒβ˜€οΈ Making the Most of the Lighter Evenings! β˜€οΈπŸƒ
With the warmer weather and lighter evenings finally returning, our cadets have been getting outside and putting in the hard work towards the physical section of their Blue Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. πŸ‘
From warm-up drills and sprint runs to planks, ball bounces and star jumps, the squadron has certainly been keeping active over recent weeks! While there were plenty of tired legs and out-of-breath cadets by the end, there were also plenty of smiles, encouragement and teamwork throughout the sessions. πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯
The physical section of the Blue DofE Award is all about building fitness, resilience and personal determination while encouraging cadets to challenge themselves and improve over time. Activities like these help develop not only physical health, but also confidence, perseverance and a positive mindset β€” all valuable life skills both within and beyond cadets.
It’s fantastic to see the cadets encouraging one another, pushing themselves outside their comfort zones and embracing the challenge together. Whether it’s aviation, leadership, music, fieldcraft, sport or DofE, the RAF Air Cadets is packed with opportunities for young people to develop and grow.
Well done to everyone involved for the effort and enthusiasm shown! πŸ‘

πŸ₯ΎπŸ… Representing No.1 Welsh Wing at WARMA 2026! πŸ…πŸ₯Ύ
A huge congratulations to Sgt Williams, who recently represented No.1 Welsh Wing at the 2026 WARMA March alongside the rest of the Wing team. πŸ‘
The Walking and Road Marching Association (WARMA) events are designed to test endurance, determination, teamwork and resilience, challenging participants both physically and mentally over demanding marching routes. Taking part requires commitment, preparation and the ability to push through difficult conditions while supporting those around you.
Representing the Wing at events like this is a fantastic achievement in itself and demonstrates the confidence and dedication Sgt Williams has developed through their time within the RAF Air Cadets. Opportunities such as road marching not only build fitness and perseverance, but also strengthen teamwork, self-discipline and leadership skills that benefit cadets far beyond the activity itself.
We’re incredibly proud to see Sgt Williams representing both the squadron and the Wing at such an event and embracing yet another challenge head on. Well done! πŸ”₯
The RAF Air Cadets offers opportunities in aviation, music, leadership, sport, fieldcraft, first aid, road marching and so much more β€” helping young people develop confidence, skills and lifelong memories along the way.

🎢🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Highland Cathedral – A Special End to an Incredible Session 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎢
There are some pieces of music that instantly command attention β€” and Highland Cathedral is certainly one of them.
At the end of a fantastic session during the recent Wing Band Weekend, our cadets joined together with members of Piping Hot Cwmbran Traditional Bagpipes and Drums Band for a powerful joint performance of this iconic piece.
After an evening of learning, coaching and trying something new, hearing the pipes, drums and musicians all come together was a truly special moment. The sound echoing through the room gave everyone goosebumps and perfectly showcased the teamwork, dedication and passion for music shared by everyone involved. πŸ‘
For many cadets, opportunities like this are what make music within the RAF Air Cadets so memorable. It’s not just about learning notes and rhythms β€” it’s about building confidence, performing as part of a team, learning from experienced musicians and creating moments that stay with you long after the final note fades away.
A huge thank you once again to Piping Hot Cwmbran Traditional Bagpipes and Drums Band for joining us and helping create such an unforgettable experience for our cadets. 🎼πŸ”₯

🎢πŸ₯ Pipes, Drums & Highland Cathedral! πŸ₯πŸŽΆ
Recently, several of our cadets attended a fantastic Wing Band Weekend, packed full of music, learning and unforgettable experiences.
A real highlight of the weekend was welcoming special guest players from Piping Hot Cwmbran Traditional Bagpipes and Drums Band, who delivered an incredibly engaging session all about the world of pipes and drums.
The cadets were given a fascinating insight into the history, traditions and techniques behind the instruments, while our snare drummers received some higher-level coaching and guidance to help further develop their musical skills. Other cadets also had the exciting opportunity to try their hand at the practise pipes for the very first time! πŸ‘
The session finished in spectacular fashion with a joint performance of the iconic Highland Cathedral, bringing together cadets and guest musicians in a brilliant display of teamwork, talent and musical passion. The sound filling the room was something truly special and a moment many of the cadets won’t forget anytime soon.
Music within the RAF Air Cadets offers so much more than simply learning an instrument. It develops confidence, discipline, teamwork and performance skills, while also creating opportunities to meet new people and experience unique events like this.
A huge thank you to Piping Hot Cwmbran Traditional Bagpipes and Drums Band for giving up their time to inspire and support our cadets β€” it was greatly appreciated by everyone involved! 🎼πŸ”₯

⚾πŸ”₯ Friendly Rivalry at Its Finest! πŸ”₯⚾
Recently, we joined forces with 2308 (Cwmbran) Squadron for a fantastic joint sports evening β€” and what followed was arguably one of the most fiercely competitive games of rounders seen in quite some time! πŸ˜„πŸ‘
With over 30 cadets taking part, the evening was packed full of energy, teamwork, laughter and just the right amount of healthy rivalry. From huge hits and impressive catches to questionable tactics and dramatic β€œthat was definitely out!” moments, the competition was intense from start to finish.
Joint squadron evenings like these are a brilliant opportunity for cadets to meet new people, build friendships, challenge themselves and strengthen teamwork skills outside of normal parade night activities. Sport plays a huge role within the RAF Air Cadets, helping develop confidence, resilience, communication and camaraderie β€” all while having a great time.
A massive thank you to 2308 (Cwmbran) Squadron for a brilliant evening and for bringing the competitive spirit! We’re already looking forward to the rematch… πŸ‘€βšΎ

πŸŽ―πŸ‘ Sharpening Skills on the Air Rifle Range! πŸ‘πŸŽ―
A few weeks ago, several of our cadets were hard at work on the air rifle range, developing their marksmanship skills, concentration and safe weapon handling techniques.
Cadets Williams, Gopavarapu and Davies spent the session honing their shooting abilities and refining their accuracy on the range. A special congratulations goes to Cadet Davies, who successfully achieved her Trained Shot Badge β€” a fantastic achievement and reward for the effort and focus shown throughout the training! πŸ‘πŸŽ–οΈ
While this was taking place, Cadet Hassan, Cpl Murphy and Sgt Williams were undertaking their Initial Weapons Training (IWT) on the air rifle. This training introduces cadets to the safe handling, operation and responsibilities involved in target shooting within the RAF Air Cadets. We’re pleased to say they all successfully passed and can now progress further with their shooting journey.
Marksmanship training is about far more than simply hitting the target. It develops patience, discipline, focus, responsibility and confidence β€” all valuable life skills that cadets can carry forward into many other areas of life.
