What could we achieve for our communities if we made more time to connect and work together?

As the founder of CUBE and The Gallery, I’ve seen how a conversation can open the door to new ideas, shared learning and meaningful partnerships.

Every agency brings a different perspective, relationships and experience. When we bring these together—and listen to the lived experience of the people we support—we can better understand what families and communities need.

Strong partnerships grow through trust, honest conversations and a willingness to share what we’ve learnt, including what hasn’t gone to plan.

They need people who follow up, make introductions and turn shared ambitions into action.

I’m excited about the possibilities of collaborating with like-minded agencies that care deeply about their communities and are willing to explore what we could achieve together.

Some of the most valuable lessons in my career came from women who were willing to share what they had learned with me. They gave me the confidence to be brave, ask questions and keep going when things did not work out as planned.

Now I want to offer that same encouragement to other women.
I’ve spent 20 years developing businesses and running peer networks, and 30 years supporting and running startups.

As the founder of CUBE and The Gallery, and through my work representing Wales in the third sector, I’ve learned that building something meaningful takes courage. It also takes the ability to adapt when things go wrong, ask for help and learn from the people around you.

That is the spirit I want to bring to our women’s business network.

I want you to feel comfortable walking into the room, whether you are just starting out or have been leading a business for years.

You’ll find women who understand the pressures, are willing to share what they know and have honest conversations about the decisions that keep us awake at night.

I’ll share my experience openly: what has worked, what hasn’t, and what I would do differently. I know I’ll learn from the women who join us too.

Friday 30th October 5pm. I can lead an organisation, make difficult decisions and carry responsibility—and still need someone to say, “I understand.”
Being a founder, CEO and director has given me experience I can bring to our Women in Business Network: building a vision, leading a team, navigating uncertainty and continuing when things don’t go to plan.
My work in community development has also taught me how much changes when people feel heard, valued and connected. Lived experience matters. So does making room for voices that aren’t always the loudest in the room.
I have a lot to offer, but I also have a lot to learn from other women.
A job title doesn’t remove the need for encouragement, honest conversations or a fresh perspective. Sometimes you need practical advice. Sometimes you need someone to challenge your thinking. And sometimes you simply need to speak freely with people who understand the responsibility you carry.
That’s why this network matters to me personally.
I want our Women in Business Network at The Gallery to be a place where we can share what we know, ask for what we need and help each other move forward.
Whether you’re shaping your first business idea or leading an established organisation, you have something valuable to bring. You deserve support, too.

The Gallery and CUBE are two parts of the same vision.
CUBE — Community United Barry 4 Everyone — was created to bring people together, reduce isolation and provide accessible support within our local community.
The Gallery is the social enterprise that helps make that work possible.
Every coffee, afternoon tea, After Dark dinner, wedding, celebration, overnight stay and private event held at The Gallery contributes towards the services and opportunities delivered through CUBE.
This means that when an organisation chooses The Gallery for a meeting, team day, private dinner, Christmas gathering or corporate event, it receives a distinctive boutique experience while also creating wider social value in Barry.
It has taken years to develop both CUBE and The Gallery, but the purpose has remained constant: to create beautiful spaces, meaningful experiences and sustainable support for the people around us.

Sometimes it’s important to look back at where you started.

When we were developing CUBE, the vision was always about more than delivering services. It was about finding ways to create something sustainable — something that could generate opportunity, bring people together and support a wider social purpose.

I spent four years developing CUBE before it became the organisation it is today, and from that journey came another idea: The Gallery, our social enterprise.

These photographs take me back to an earlier chapter of that journey.
Today, The Gallery has evolved into a boutique venue for weddings, celebrations, dining and overnight stays — but the purpose behind it remains.

Looking at where we started makes me incredibly proud of how far both CUBE and The Gallery have come.
And we're still developing.

Social enterprise isn't simply about running a business. It's about using enterprise to create something with a wider purpose.

Still proud of where we started. Proud of everyone involved and supporting cheering us on. Proud of how far we’ve come. And very excited about where we’re going next. 💙
