🌟 In honour of national volunteers week we wanted to do a big shout out to two of our current external rotations Barrow Foodbank and YouthAbility Youth Services 🌟

💚Matthew and the team at Barrow food bank work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the foodbank running for the local community!

Amy has been on rotation here and has seen the work that goes into the foodbank daily! All of our interns went to the foodbank to volunteer for the day to see what actually goes on behind the scenes!

From collecting and unpacking deliveries, packing up crates, weighing and dating items, stock rotation and fund raising…. (the list goes on) it is a very busy place! And none of this would be possible without the 70+ volunteers that give their time up weekly! 💚

🧡Next up…. Les and the team at YouthAbility! The time and effort that Les puts in to youth ability and also the local community is amazing to see!

Amy has been helping out at the walney warm hub each Wednesday, handing out the free breakfasts, helping to pack up the food share and also having a game of bingo with the community!

Each and every week Les and the team put their heart and soul into having different activities on, organise trips,fund raisers, community groups, keeping on top of the food share, and not forgetting preparing for the amazing Poppy display which takes them nearly all year to make! 🧡

The community would not run without volunteers and it has been a pleasure for us to see a small part of what they all do! Keep up the amazing work and a big thank you from all of us at project search 👏🏽

A massive well done to our interns that had mock interviews with the DWP at The Bridge today!

Mock interviews are a great way to gain valuable techniques for the future, They are seen as a continuous learning experience so we like to do a few of these across the year!

All of the interns were given hints and tips to improve and we will be using these to help us grow ready for the next mock interviews at the end of the programme

New Fully Funded Engineering & Manufacturing Skills Programme, starting 28th May in Ulverston.

Looking to start a career in engineering or manufacturing?

Gen2 is delivering a 12-week intensive training programme in partnership with Westmorland & Furness Council, funded through the Adult Skills Fund.

Starting 28th May 2026 in Ulverston, this programme is designed for adults who are unemployed, underemployed or considering a career change.

What you’ll gain:
• Industry-recognised qualifications
• Practical engineering and welding skills
• Increased confidence and employability
• Interview preparation and problem-solving skills
• Progression into employment or further training

Training takes place 2 days per week (Thursdays & Fridays) at our Ulverston centre.
