SAS Football CLUB SAS football club is a well established local youth football club, catering for boys and girls of all ages

It all started with my two eldest going with their dad to play football in the local park in Sticklepath after tea on a Saturday evening.Gradually word spread and more of their friends turned up along with their own fathers. We soon realised that there was demand for a more organised activity. Hence the Club was born on the 18th May 1996 with a dozen young boys attending our first training session at Sticklepath Primary School. The Club was originally called Saturday Afternoon Soccer as that was when we trained. As our numbers grew we turned to Pilton Community College to train and abbreviated our name to SAS as we were now training most week nights. In 1999 we entered an Under 14 team into the local youth league with amazing success. The boys went onto win the league and cup double for the three years they played. One of those boys is now a trainer at the Club with the one of the original trainers coming back to help out also. Over the years we have continued to have success in both the league and Plate/Cup competitions. Last year our current U15s won the Plate and Fair Play award and our current U13s also won the Fair Play award for their age group- a testament to the Club's ethos.

Another brilliant joint fitness training session for our under 11's and Under 15's tonight at Rock Park.

The effort and enthusiasm was matched by the smiles and the enjoyment by all taking part.

Well done to all the kids and a big thank you to Tony Philpotts for taking the session again 💛💚⚽

Well done to everyone for making it a fun session today.

A quick warm up, then into a game of handball to get everyone into the method of passing and moving and communicating.

A 7-6 win to the red team in the end.

Then straight into a match with captain of the reds being Alex and captain of the yellows being Hugh.

A really tight game, with the reds taking an early lead,with some great passing and defending by both teams.

Then with 30 seconds to go, a great defensive tackle by Albie who then retains the ball and scores at the other end to make the final score 1-1.

Well played by both teams. Excellent
play.

Our Player of the Week award went to Hugh today, for his interception, movement and communication in the handball and the match.

Well done Hugh.

Thank you to Wayne and Evan for all their help again today.

A reminder that signing on forms are overdue and need to be handed in please.

Message from our Under 10 Coach Stuart

A really good training session.

Tonight, we worked on passing and moving.

We explained that the best way to receive the ball from the player that has possession, is to put yourself into space.

Which in time gives the player with the ball an easy pass, away from the pressing defender.

We then followed by our training match, which produced some fantastic passages of play.

🏆 George, your presence in midfield was brilliant tonight.

Getting vital tackles in when needed for your team was great to see.

🏆 Lochlan, your runs down the wing and finding your teammates with great passing was really good tonight.

A very solid performance.
