We've been asked lots of great questions about North Devon Cove, so we thought we'd answer some of the most common ones:

1. Do you have to attend every day of the week?

No! We understand that everyone's needs and circumstances are different.

People can attend from one to five days per week, depending on availability and what works best for them and their family.

Our aim is to provide flexible, meaningful opportunities that support each person to achieve their goals, whether that's one day a week or a full programme.

2. Do you have a waiting list?

We are currently building our waiting list ahead of opening.

If you're interested in North Devon Cove, we'd love to hear from you. Joining our waiting list doesn't commit you to a place—it simply allows us to keep you updated with our progress, opening dates and availability.

As spaces will be limited, we encourage families to register their interest early.

3. What payment options will you accept and how much does it cost?

North Devon Cove will accept a range of payment options, including Devon County Council contracted placements, Direct Payments and private payments.

4. Can families visit before someone starts?

Absolutely! Choosing the right provision is an important decision, and we want everyone to feel comfortable and confident.

We'll be holding an open week in early September, where prospective adults and their families can meet the team, explore North Devon Cove, look around the building and ask any questions.

We'll also be offering free taster sessions, giving people the opportunity to experience our activities, get to know us and make sure North Devon Cove is the right fit before committing to a place.

5. Who is North Devon Cove for?

North Devon Cove is for adults with learning disabilities, learning differences and autism who would benefit from a supportive, community-based environment.

Our programme is designed for people who want to continue learning, build confidence, develop independence, make friendships and enjoy meaningful opportunities within their local community.

6. What are your staff ratios?

Our ratio is one member of staff to every four adults (1:4), allowing us to provide personalised support while encouraging independence and participation.

On Saturday Izzy and Jo swapped painting for an emergency first aid course with IQualifi During which we learnt how to respond to emergency situations, how to carry out CPR and use a defibrillator, what to do if someone has a seizure, epi pen training, plus how to respond to burns, bleeds and wounds.

Today, we’ve also successfully completed our Level 5 Safeguarding training.

As we continue preparing to open North Devon Cove in September, we’re committed to ensuring our team has the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide the highest quality support in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

We are also committed to practicing our bandaging skills…..

The team at North Devon Cove would like to give a huge shout out and thanks to Precision Scaffolding Ltd. for donating the scaffold needed to help us repaint the outside of our new base on Litchdon Street in Barnstaple.

Painting is now underway and we are so excited to share the finished result with everyone.

We’re delighted to share where North Devon Cove will soon be based!

You’ll find us at 30 Litchdon Street, Barnstaple, just a short walk from Barnstaple Bus Station, making it easy to access by public transport.

We’re currently hard at work transforming the building into a welcoming, inclusive space where adults with learning disabilities, differences and autism can build confidence, develop independence and become more connected to their local community.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing regular updates as the renovation progresses, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at our journey.

Now you have met the team, here is what we will be doing from September. We will be open Monday to Friday and offering a full day provision 8:30 until 4:30.

What we offer will include:

• Independent living skills including cooking, laundry and household management
• Budgeting, shopping and money management
• Community access and travel training
• Social communication and confidence building
• Preparation for volunteering, employability and adult life
• Health, wellbeing and emotional resilience
• Creative and enterprise activities
• Building friendships and reducing social isolation

We have been completely overwhelmed by the support shown for North Devon Cove CIC over the last few days.

The response from the North Devon community has been incredible and we are so grateful for every follow, share, message and kind comment. It has reinforced just how important this type of provision is for local adults, families and professionals.

We are hoping to officially open in September and are really looking forward to sharing more information about the building, renovations and our plans for the provision over the coming weeks.
