A good idea for a walk around on Easter Monday morning

How are you spending your Easter Monday morning? How about coming to Barnsley Main Colliery site on Oaks Lane where our pop up museum opens for the first time this year? It's 10 years since the Heritage Group started, and 160 years since the Oaks Disaster. Lots of recent and early history to see, talk about, check on. Have a walk and tea or coffee too - we're there, 10 -12 Monday morning. See you there!

Should we start this again? Our next walk is on Saturday 11th April

I am incredibly amazed and humbled to learn that my image of a toad swimming has been selected as the winning image in the 2026 British Wildlife Photography Awards. To have an image included in the book is a great reward, but to find my image has been awarded as the competition winner is something you dream about, but never in a million years expect. Many thanks to the judges and the competition organisers. I would also like to offer my best wishes to all the other photographers who have had an image or images selected.

Our reserve currently supports the highest number of pied flycatcher territories recorded at any site in South Yorkshire! We’re aiming to raise £600 to purchase 20 new bird boxes for our nest box scheme — and we need your help.
