Winning entries from the 2025 Children’s Art Competition run by Barnsley Rockley Rotary Club. This year the exhibition was opened by local MP Stephanie Peacock, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Sport, Media, Civil Society & Youth. A record 48 schools entered in this our 6th year of running the event. Judges, local professional artists Dean Ormston & Fiona Stephenson had the challenging task of selecting the winning entry’s who received a trophy & box of artists materials. The winning schools also received an inscribed silver platter.
Thank you to all our supporters, helpers, teachers & parents. The winning entries will be displayed in local library’s during 2026.

The Barnsley Rockley Club made donations of £500 to Monk Bretton (Barnsley) Scouts & Children’s Air Ambulance.
President Alwyn Richards commented:
I’m pleased the Club is supporting these causes. As someone who went through Cubs & Scouts I know what a difference the organisation can make. £500 will make a difference & hopefully take some pressure off the leaders. The Children's Air Ambulance is a very worthy cause & on the financial side, helicopters don’t come cheap and need all the help they can get.

The first Barnsley Fashion Week ended with a spectacular catwalk show aided & supported by local radio hosts, singers and gospel choir. Amazing sound & lighting created an atmosphere which I think surprised many who came alone. One media photographer said he hadn’t expected such a professional show.
Highlights included Barnsley College Fashion & Design students modelling some fantastic outfits. After some rehearsal nerves - they had never been on a catwalk before - they delivered when it mattered with impeccable timing and style. We wish them well in their future careers and hope they found working with professional models, hair & makeup artists was helpful to them.
One of the spin offs for the Rockley Club is learning how social media can be utilised. What a powerful tool it is in experienced hands. Big thank-you to our Presidents daughter Victoria Reddington who directed the event and took the project to a level we could not have imagined. Also thanks to our Presidents wife & PP Christine who has worked for months to make the event a success.
P.S. coming up, Barnsley Rockley Rotary Club Childrens Art Competion. Almost 50 local schools have entered!
