Meet Carol, who’s already got things off to a fantastic start with these bright, fun little hats ready for this year's Big Knit! 💙

Every tiny hat knitted for an Innocent Smoothie helps make a big difference. For each hat knitted, 30p is donated, helping support local people over 50. ✨

Whether you're an experienced knitter or just fancy trying something new, now is the perfect time to get involved.

Barnsley 10K Runner Spotlight – Meet Claire! 🏃‍♀️

Claire is an Apprentice Manager at Barnsley College who is taking on the Barnsley 10K in support of Age UK Barnsley. 💙

Claire started running just a year ago, with the goal of improving her fitness and health. Since then, she’s completed her first 5K and tries to get out for a run each week.

She admits she’s “not fast”, but loves the feeling of achievement after every run - and this will be her second 10K, so nerves are definitely kicking in, but so is excitement and determination! 💪

Claire is also doing amazingly with her fundraising, already smashing £150 and hoping to reach £200 before race day! 🎉

💬 “Age UK Barnsley is such a fabulous cause, supporting the people of Barnsley in my home town. The charity does such a wide range of amazing things for people who need it, and the difference it makes to lives is incredible!”

We’re so pleased to have Claire on board supporting Apprentice Katie’s fundraising and events work, and of course, the charity as a whole.

This Carers Week, we want carers to know that support is available.

Our Information & Advice Team can help you understand and apply for benefits such as Carer's Allowance, as well as signpost you to other services and support that may help make life a little easier.

Our Elizabeth Activity & Care Centre offers respite for carers, while your loved one enjoys quizzes, games, activities, and companionship in a safe and welcoming environment.

You don't have to do it alone – we're here to help. 💙

We had a catch-up with the FaME group members about what these groups mean to them.

🗣️ "When I first started, I couldn’t do much of anything. It’s really helped with my walking and getting out and about. I also find I drive better with my posture. I have met some lovely people, and I do love a biscuit afterwards." – Sue

🗣️ "I have a problem with my right hip and was referred to physio. Once my physio had stopped, I started coming here. It really helps me, especially with my balance. I love chatting to the lovely ladies and gentlemen, as well as a cuppa at the end." – Susan
