This Refugee Week, let’s think about children arriving in the UK seeking sanctuary. 💚

Many have faced trauma, loss, and separation, often arriving alone.
Every child deserves to feel safe, cared for, and welcomed.

With kindness and support, children can rebuild their lives and feel part of a community again.

Let’s speak up so children seeking sanctuary are protected, heard, and treated with dignity.

Misogyny isn’t always loud - sometimes it’s just background noise. But it’s shaping how young people see themselves every day. From stereotypes about women’s roles to the pressure boys face navigating harmful ideas of masculinity, these influences are constant - and often go unchallenged. We can’t fix this without listening to young people and taking their experiences seriously. Their voices must lead the change. Share our content, start conversations, and stand with us. What do you think needs to change?

What’s it really like running the London Marathon for Barnardo’s?

We caught up with Team Barnardo’s runners Callum, Abby and Michael on marathon day back in April to hear about their experience, from the early morning nerves to crossing the finish line.

A huge thank you to all 164 of our incredible 2026 runners. Together, you’ve raised an amazing £445,819 so far to support children, young people and families across the UK.

The TCS London Marathon is more than just a race. Every mile helps build safer, happier, healthier and more hopeful futures for children and young people.

If you’re ready to take on the challenge in 2027, we’d love to have you on Team Barnardo’s.

When harmful attitudes are repeated often enough, they can start to feel normal.

For too many young people, ideas about girls and relationships are shaped by what they watch, hear and experience online every day.

And some come to see it as “just part of growing up.” But it doesn’t have to be this way.

What young people see every day is shaping how they think, act and treat each other.

Misogyny and harmful ideas about masculinity are influencing how they experience the world - online and off.

Ashley James helps bring this to life, highlighting the realities young people are facing today and sharing why this issue matters so deeply to her.

Call It What It Is is raising awareness - It doesn’t have to be this way.

Children and young people’s voices must be at the heart of conversations about online misogyny. Because if adults only talk to other adults, solutions won’t reflect what young people are actually facing - or what they urgently need.

The 1 in 6 stat referenced has since shifted slightly - with the most recent figure showing that 1 in 7 13–15 year olds have been asked to send a n**e photo of themselves.

Together, we can push for stronger protections in online spaces and build a safer digital world for every child.

We surveyed 4,000 young people aged 13-20 across the UK about misogynistic content online, this is what they said...

The findings are stark - painting a picture of a challenging and often unsafe environment for young people today.

They are a key reason we’re raising the alarm. Many young people face a constant stream of extreme, degrading messages about women and girls, alongside damaging myths about masculinity.

For some, it’s background noise in their daily lives, shaping how they perceive themselves and the world around them. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Together, we can push for stronger protections in online spaces and build a safer digital world for every child.

What young people see shapes what they learn.

And today, that learning comes from everywhere - content, creators and culture.

Algorithms amplify it, influencers glamorise it, and emerging technologies like AI worsen it further.

That’s why we worked with 12 young people across the UK to create ‘Call It What It Is.’

A campaign shining a light on how misogyny and harmful ideas about masculinity are shaping attitudes and behaviour today.

Supported by research with 4,000 young people, the message is clear: this is influencing how young people experience the world - online and off.

It’s not harmless. It’s learned.
