IN MEMORY OF PAUL SKELTCHER

On Monday 24th August, Paul will be laid to rest, and we wanted to take a moment to remember someone who has been such an important part of the history of The Bow Window.

Paul and Vanessa ran The Bow Window for many years, with Paul running the kitchen and being such an important part of steering the ship alongside Vanessa.

One of the main reasons we wanted to take on The Bow Window 10 years ago was because we had grown up coming here as children, when Paul and Vanessa were running the business. We have so many fond memories of The Bow Window from those days, and it feels very special to have now been part of its story ourselves for the last 10 years.

Even today, we still have customers who come through our doors and share their own fond memories of working at The Bow Window for Paul and Vanessa. It is lovely to hear those stories and to know just how many people have a connection to this place because of them.

Paul and Vanessa have remained the owners of the building throughout our 10 years here, so Paul has continued to be a part of The Bow Window’s story, even from behind the scenes.

On Monday, Paul will make his final journey, starting at 1.20pm from The Owls Nest, passing The Little Bare, and then continuing past his home and The Bow Window.

If you knew Paul, worked for him, knew the family, or simply have your own memories of him and The Bow Window, please feel free to come and pay your respects and line The Crescent for his final journey.

Our thoughts are with Vanessa, their family and all those who knew and loved Paul.

Paul will be missed greatly, but his place in The Bow Window’s history — and in the memories of so many people — will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Paul, we will be raising a glass to you. ❤️ x x

Paul's funeral will take place on Monday 24th August 2pm at Beetham Crematorium.

The funeral cortege will pass through Princes Crescent around 1.20pm, pausing at two of Paul's favourite watering holes...
The Owl's Nest, The Little Bare and of course his business for many years, The Bow Window.

It would be lovely to see you on the crescent, to show your respects and give Paul a warm send off on his final journey ❤️
