The Macduff Calendar 2027

Its that time of year again! Setting to work on the 2027 Calendar which finds its way around the globe and supports the Friends of the Aquarium and the Friends of Tarlair.

Sponsors are continuing to support us and once again we are asking our fantastic local photographers to submit images for the calendar, highlighting Macduff and its surounding area, its buildings, its people, its scenery, its wildlife, and its attractions. Maybe even a photo of our latest visitor, Magnus the walrus??

Images in either portrait or landscape format (including panoramic)and ideally at least 2mb in size are invited. Please send your submissions to:

Doug Allan
Very sad news of the passing of our Patron, Doug Allan, whilst on a trekking holiday in Nepal.
Doug had been our Patron for 10 years and was a keen supporter of the Friends and the Aquarium, giving up his time to to join in our events and to help our fundraising through his wonderful illustrated talks of his experiences as a wildlife cameraman. Who can ever forget his film of the polar bear cubs?

Doug was also a champion of environmental sustainability and spoke of the impact of climate change that he had witnessed on his filming expeditions.

Although the Aquarium has been closed for refurbishment and extension, we have kept Doug up to date with all of the exciting plans for the future and in his last email he was offering to visit again and continue support us in our activities.

Despite his many accolades, awards, status, Doug was a warm, down to earth, and unassuming person and a real friend to the Friends.He will be much missed and our thoughts are with his family at thos time.

What have the Friends done for the Aquarium?

Come along to our AGM on Thursday 26th February at 7.00pm in Market St Hall to hear from Aquarium Manager, Claire Matthews, all the projects that have been supported by the Friends over the past 10 years!

Just to remind everyone, we are looking for new Trustees to help continue our support and make the most of the opportunities when our fantastic Aqaurium reopens. If you think you might like to join us, come along and meet us before the AGM, from 6.00pm onwards, to discuss what is involved as a Trustee and how you can best help, whether it be fundraising, crafts, admin & finance, IT, or just because you want the Aquarium to thrive - we would love to hear from you.

One particular talent we are looking for is some technical support to ensure that the ever-popular Macduff Calendar can continue.

Join us for the exciting times ahead!

As the work at the Aquarium continues and the new extension takes shape, we are all looking forward to its reopening in Spring. Inside, the display areas are also being given a comprehensive upgrade with new exhibits and features to make it a real WOW! of a visit.

There will be lots of scope and opportunities for the Friends to support the Aquarium team, and to enhance all that there is on offer.

To help in that we are looking for new, energetic, and enthusiastic folk to join us as Trustees and bring new ideas for activities, events, and projects to make the most of having this fantastic facility on our doorstep.

If you would like to know more, or are interested in getting involved with our town's Aquarium, then get in touch, and we'll get back to you!

The Macduff Calendar 2026 SOLD OUT
That's all of the Calendars at Tarlair now sold.

If you haven't secured a copy yet, you may find a few available at either The Garret or The Platform but you would need to check with them. Both are worth a visit in any event!

The Macduff Calendar 2026

It's been a busy few days with the launch of the Calendar on Thursday evening, orders being posted home and abroad, and then going on sale at the Macduff Market on Saturday. Well done to all those who turned out in miserable weather to collect their Calendars.

If you haven't yet collected your preorder, or you wish to purchase copies, then head down to Tarlair, where the remaining copies will be on sale a good excuse for a cuppa and a scone!.

Just a reminder that the Calendar will be on sale at the Macduff Market tomorrow ( Primary School 10.00 - 13.00). Be there early to be sure of getting a copy. Preorders can also be collected.

Just to note that any preorders not collected before 27th November will go back on general release.

Not Long Now!

With less than two weeks until The Macduff Calendar 2026 goes on sale at Macduff Market (25th October@ Primary School), half of the total stock are already accounted for! We expect the rest to go very quickly!

The judges have done their job and the Calendar is now off to the printers. It will go public sale at the Macduff Market at the end of October.

The Macduff Calendarr 2026

Wow! 383 photographs have been submitted by 35 photographers for next year's Calendar .
We also have over 200 entries for the childrens art competition. Well done Macduff and King Edward Primary Schools!.

The photographs and pictures are now with the judges, who have a difficult task ahead to select those for inclusion!

Be sure you get your copies by pre-ordering now and before they go on sale at the Macduff Market in October. Once they are gone, they are gone!
