Not every challenge needs to be 200km.

The Cotswold Classic 100km is one of the most popular routes at the Broughton Castle Sportive.

Long enough to feel like a real achievement.
Challenging enough to earn it.
Manageable enough to be within reach for many riders.

If you're looking for a proper day on the bike this summer, the 100km route could be the perfect choice.

Could this be your route on 28 June?

Every year we see familiar faces on the start line.

Some return to tackle a longer distance.
Some ride the same route they enjoyed last year.
Others simply enjoy a well-organised day in the Cotswolds.

From the 40km Cotswold Tour to the 200km Cotswold Monster, every route offers its own challenge.

For many riders, that's what keeps them coming back.

Is this your first Broughton Castle Sportive, or are you returning this year?

Ride together. Compete together.

Did you know the Broughton Castle Sportive includes a Team Challenge?

Teams of 4–6 riders can compete across the 100km, 160km and 200km routes, with team positions decided by the time of the fourth rider home.

Three trophies are up for grabs:

🏆 Presidents Cup – 100km Team Challenge
🏆 Rotary Challenge Trophy – 160km Team Challenge
🏆 Broughton Castle Trophy – 200km Team Challenge

Whether you're representing a cycling club, workplace, group of friends or regular riding partners, it's a great way to add an extra challenge to the day.

Which team will be taking home the trophies on 28 June?

We shared this story last year, but with many new riders following the page — and the 2026 event now just four weeks away — it felt like a good time to tell it again.

Fourteen years ago, three members of the Rotary Club of Banbury Cherwell sat down with a simple question:

How could we create an event that brought people together while raising money for local causes?

What followed was a meeting with Lord and Lady Saye and Sele, who generously agreed to allow riders to start and finish in the grounds of Broughton Castle.

With support from Banbury Star Cyclists’ Club, the first routes were planned and the first riders set off.

Fourteen years later, the Broughton Castle Sportive is still going strong.

Since 2010, the event has raised more than £106,000 for local charities and community projects, thanks to the riders, volunteers, supporters and local organisations that make it possible.

One person who has been there almost from the beginning is Lord Saye and Sele, who has ridden in every Sportive except one since that very first year.

The event itself is planned and delivered entirely by volunteers. Months before riders arrive, routes are reviewed, feed stations organised, signage prepared, safety plans updated, and countless details worked through behind the scenes.

On Sunday 28 June, riders will once again roll out from Broughton Castle and into the Cotswolds.

We're proud of what the event has become, and grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey.

Four weeks from today, riders will be gathering at Broughton Castle for a day in the Cotswolds.

Some will be chasing a personal challenge.
Some will be riding with friends.
Some will be taking part for the first time.

Whatever your reason for riding, we'd love to know:

Who are you riding with on 28 June?
