International Nystagmus Awareness Day: Saturday 20th June 2026

A few notes from regular parkrunner, Andy on how can people get involved in guide running...

1. You can register for it via 'find a guide' on British blind sport - there are courses people can do.

2. For me, I believe it is a personal thing and working with the person you are guiding is the most important thing you can do by getting to know what they need and how to support them.

3. If someone at parkrun wants to try it I’m more than happy to run with them as I know Banbury pretty well it’s quite a good place for me to run.

4. parkrun use the figure of VI guides as a way of knowing how many visually impaired runners they get so it shows how inclusive it is.

We had a lovely FREE Park Yoga session this Sunday ☀️

The sun was shining and we came together for another fun yoga session in Spiceball Park 🌲

It was week 7 and still new people came along and 1st time to the Yoga people too 🤩

Some people have been to every week so far and told me they can notice the difference it’s made to their flexibility & balance - love this 😍

Oh and little Dobbie the dog comes every week too 🤎🐶

110 people joined in yesterday making the attendance so far 682 .. which is amazing!💫

It’s turning into a real community 💞

As mentioned next Sunday we have our Yogi Tea Party 🥳

I will give out Yogi Tea bags again & invite you to bring along a flask of hot water so we can stay for a cuppa and chat after the session if you like 🫖☕️

If you have been meaning to pop along and wonder what it’s all about join us next week & you will be able to feel the uplifting energy for yourself 💥

The volunteer team is all ready and looking forward to seeing you all at event #121 in the morning...

📝 8.30am: Volunteers arrive & sign in
👋 8.50am: First timers briefing
🏋️‍♀️ 8.55am: Run briefing & warm up
🚦9.00am: 3…2…1…GO!

Important reminders:
👂 Please listen carefully to pre-run briefing and avoid talking over the Run Director
🐕 NO dogs with runners/walkers or volunteers. Can be with spectators as long as well back from course and on a lead.
🏁 finish funnel for juniors ONLY
🚳 juniors (and parents/carers) should not be taking part on bikes or scooters - this is a parkrun rule to ensure the safety of all participants.

Don't forget to let us know in advance if your junior is completing a milestone tomorrow so we can have their wristband ready to present:
💙 11 junior parkruns (half marathon)
💚 21 junior parkruns (marathon)
🧡 50 junior parkruns (ultra-marathon)
🥈 100 junior parkruns
💛 250 junior parkruns

📣 Volunteers, please also let us know if you have a volunteering milestone - that deserves a shout out too.

Thanks & well done to the 96 people who braved the very dark Sunday morning skies yesterday

We were rewarded with a little sunshine and it stayed a lovely temperature to practise some yoga with not a spot of rain .. shows it is good to have faith!
